I saw Steve's new tyres yesterday and it got me thinking about mine again but the 235/85 size I like needs 16" rims, of which there aren't a lot of choices when it comes to the zook stud pattern. I think GV's had 16 x 7s but they dont come up that often, and price wise you might as well buy new sunraysias (which only come in 16x with 0 offset AFAIK).

Anyone got any other bright ideas?

I remember a guy had some strange rims that were 16x7 that looked like split rims but werent, said they came off a Jep or F100, cant remember

get some 16x7 bands and weld your own centres in?

1. change stud pattern on current diffs
2. cut a few rims up and reweld 5 stud centers in to new 16 inch rims
3. get hilux or similiar 6 stud diffs
4. don't get 16 inch rims because it's too much trouble

they should be able to give you some pretty decent offset.

I would need some 16" rims to cut the centres out of, so that sort of wouldn't work!

I could get custom wheels, or order 16" sunny's but that's the exact reason I want to get away from the zook stud pattern, that there just isn't a lot of wheels around in that pattern.

I think the best way to go is change to 6 stud pattern. Sounds easy enough but there is a little problem. Sure the rears isn't a big drama, that can be welded up and re-drilled. The fronts however are a different story. The flange that the studs are pressed into isn't a full circle, it's just 5 'tabs', which is going to make it pretty hard to mount 6 wheel studs into.



So short of having a set of hubs machined up I don't think there is any other way of doing it. Well, you could make up a set of wheel spacers that have 5 holes and 6 studs, but that wouldnt really end up being any cheaper than a pair of hubs, and I think the hubs would be a better way to go. Unless of course you could get a hilux (or other 6 stud) hub to fit, but I doubt that there will be one that will.

Vit? Pity about the poxy offset. F truck? Ok if you're in the US, still relatively rare over here compared to 6 stud.

NFI. The old ones were 5 x 4.5" PCD. Anyway, I doubt the new ones have hubs, so the centre hole wont be big enough to fit over the locking hub.

I could tell you about the 16" rims I saw with 15" centres in them but I dont think you would apprecieate the fine engineering that went into filling the gap
