You 110% require a mod plate for them, even if they bolt straight to the sierra runners or bolted straight into the floor mounts

the only time you might not need them is if you are fitting seats of a higher trim level from teh same model of car or something older than the ADR's for seats

QLD transport will give you a list of people in your area that can do mod plates, if you use proper grade 8,8 bolts and washers and nothing is dodgy its a simple process

I assume these two posts mean the same thing (taking note of the smiley at the end of the first post) I haven't been here long (auszookers) and it'll take a little while to get used to here, I'm just applying the salt similarly to OCAU and getting by, it's just that this is a little bit more serious given the fact that it'll void insurance e.t.c.

But I agree with Royce. If you change any component that effects emissions, safety or handling, with a non-standard part that was not found on any variant of the recipient vehicle, then you will need a mod plate. Period.

Check with your insurance company BEFORE you do the mod. They do state in the terms and conditions that any modifications need to be noted on the policy. They also reserve the right to cancel the policy if the modifications you have done are not covered by them.

As you have said, I'll call the insurance company tomorrow as well, and the names QT recommends to find out what I have to do. I don't want to get stuck with some seats I can't use.

I called up the two names I was given by Queensland Transport to find out what I'd have to do to get the new seats certified.

The first guy said $330

The second guy said if it's done properly and no problems then $250 if it needs a re-inspection then that would take it up to $350

Queensland transport say you need two mod plates, an LK1 and an LK2.

Does anyone know anyone on the gold coast who would do it cheaper? I know it's a lot of responsibility for them to assess stuff, but seriously, that's like a licence to print money!

If nobody can help then I'll just do my best to repair the current ones, or get some second hand ones that are identical but not rooted.

Also, sorry about the double post, but it didn't seem like an edit would suffice.

The codes are right, but they should go onto 1 mod plate, as its being done at the same time. So is should be between $90 and $125.

And yes cruzinzook, they are the right ones. I ran them in my Sierra for many years as a daily. The side bolsters padding did start to move a little which was uncomfortable but I would recommend them for the price.
