Hi all again.. the Noob on the block is back...
Just wondering if anyone on here has fab'ed up a Snorkle for a LWB 1.6 Vitara, im looking at doing it myself, just measured everything up.
i've noticed on the stock airbox the inlet isn't exactly Circular... nor is it Squarish either.. lol what were suzuki thinking...
Any Advice would be great. or Photo's Would be even better.
Cheers

I've seen some average attempts.
The problem is the shape of the side of the car. To make it look any good you would have to profile cut the inner edge so that it followed the body contours. Just like the fibre glass and plastic ones do.
IMO you would need to use 2.5" for it not to look funny, and if you didn't profile the innder edge, it would stick a mile out from the panels.
How were you thinking about doing it?

Thats why in the last two weeks i put a safari snorkel on, i have never seen a good tube one on a vitara and the body shape makes it hard to get a good fit.

When I get some spare time I plan to design one for my SV420, but I already know that the finished product (being VERY labour intensive to make) will look awesome everywhere except for the price tag.
Would easily cost as much as a safari. So I doubt I will go ahead with it on a production level.
So I guess that means the neatest result will come from Safari.

yes i can see how easily this could look very silly.
the main thing i was worried about wasn't so much the fabrication of it. we have a good welder at work, was going to work with him and some pre-fab'd mild steel 90 degree / 45 degree bends at work.
the only part i have any woe's about is mating it up to the Airbox. I want this snorkle to be Airtight and i think im gonna have a Drama with the Air Box on this one. because of the Shape of the Inlet. being a bit Square-roundish... im thinking i might have to replace the airbox with something a little more practical with round inlet/outlets...

Mate if you are a good enough fabricator to make a decent looking snorkle from mandrel bends, then I'm sure you can shape the inltet to match the rubber socket.

hay fats given the choice between a piece of mass produced plastic and a low
volume flash jobbie for around the same price the flash one should win every time.
