Anyone used Pertronix points replacement for their suzuki? I'm considering getting one for my LJ50V.

I've used these in Datsuns and they are brilliant. A nice little boost in performance and reliability and never need to change points again. Tune up is just a matter of setting the timing and that's it.

You need to speak with Tanshi, he's playing with one. Mine's still points atm once he's done all the thinking an it's reliable I'll think about it on mine.

any idea what model Datsun their using for the 50s? i looked into it and spoke to a dude on lj10 about these but never heard any more

That thread is interesting.

However, Pertronix list a unit (#1631) specifically for Nippondenso 19100-87219 229100-7580 distributors (3 cyl counterclockwise).

Is that the correct model of distributor for the lj50?

Would really like to fit one of these. Points suck!!

I just bought an Ignitor (#1631) on ebay for $75 delivered.

i have spoken directly to proquip and they couldnt tell me if these actually existed

I can tell you that getting rid of the points, and moving to a system without them really rocks.

No more wondering if your points are what is causing power loss, and hard starts. No more missing at different RPM, best of all, no more adjustment.

I have had the crane "fireball" electronic ignition box in quite a few 4 cylinders, and it really made them a lot more fun to drive and work on. I figure just about every brand is going to do the same thing (get rid of the points). I can tell you it was the best $100 I had spent on an engine in a long time.

It keeps your stock cap , rotor and coil too.
