Hi

I have a mate with a 1990 Sierra with the 1.6 EFI Conversion and is after a chip. He doesnt want to turbo it as he has other cars and likes the chip idea read: is willing to spend the money regardless is there such a thing? I have had a quick look and cant find anything?

Please stay on topic if possible guys :P

Cheers

he's better off spending money on improving the exhaust flow and depending on tyres, addressing the gearing.

mines running 31s with 1.6 EFI and has lukey extractors to 2" pipe, 2" cat and 2" muffler and runs brilliantly - its got TONS of power. honestly i think the only way i'd gain more would be to supercharge or turbo, as the cams on the 1.6 are spot on also, not much to gain with modding them.

pffft ebay can do that for $12.95 with free postage

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/15BHP-Power-Mod- ... 255dd2f845

It will modify any standard ECU by telling the ECU that the incoming air in the intake system is cold and so advances the ignition by up to 2 degrees with more fuelling to compensate, therefore producing more power with more torque at lower revs. In many cases fuel economy is increased too. Power is increased by up to 15BHP and torque is increased significantly.
It will be more responsive and you WILL LIKE IT.

What difference can you expect?
Increased acceleration at low end revs
Higher top end speed
Faster 0-60 and 1/4 mile times
Quicker throttle response
Smooth out flat-spots
Can increase MPG

dave07 has some kind of chip or aftermarket ecu in his g16b, it operates normally when cruising and not accelerating hard. but when u put ur foot down it sends the engine more fuel or something. only down side is that it uses more fuel when flooring it....obviously. he says its a noticeable difference.

maybe pm him for more info.

Thought so, but just making sure. Some people do belive that Ebay crap  Good luck with the search for a chip, though im 99.9% sure that the ECU doesn't have an expansion port on it to utilize an external EPROM.
