Hey guys my vitaras a/c is playing up.
It is intermittent it works probably 30% of the time and it's nice and cold and the other 70% percent it's cool but does stuff all
When it's raining and fogging up.

Any clues on what is wrong?

when it is playing up, is the a/c clutch on the compressor kicking in?

is the compressor kicking in and out? when its not cooling?
is it under or over gassed?

May be under gassed I haven't checked the clutch will do that

Will a loose belt cause this it has squealed a couple of times when wet but that's it

Belt's have to be tight, but don't think that's the problem, may have a slight leak, get it re-gasses with dye in it & see how it goes, it may last another 2 yr's before it need's topping up again..

I would say its low on gas... if you have been using it fairly regularly, and it has taken a while to get this way, its a slow leak, if its suddenly done this, possibility is high its a bigger leak... if you have just started using it, its probably a slow leak... its a good idea, if you havnt used your a/c for a while, like in Autumn or winter, to run it for a little while every few weeks, to keep the seals oiled, that way they dont shrink, and let gas out, older a/c's have more of this kind of problem...

you can test to see if its the high low gas switch cutting it out by jumping a + power supply to the compressor clutch,causing it to run allthe time.

here are many things that will cause it to drop in and out.
low gas
high gas pressure (getting too hot)
fans not kicking in
belts loose (most likely)
condensor blocked by shit
thermostat needs adjusting.
check the belt is tight and the condensor is clean and the fan if fitted works first

I had a look at it today the compressor cuts in and out fine but the condensor fan isn't cutting in and out now I'm
No a/c expert but the fan is triggered by a sensor that's ontop of the coke can looking thing right? If it's low on gas would this cause the fan not to work?
I hard wired the fan and it works fine and ran it with a/c on and it didn't get any colder

sounds to me like your low on gas, but not qute low enough that it stops working.
is the hot cold slide pushing the heater tap closed properly

where the switch is on the coke can thingy (receiver drier its called) is there a sight glass? can you see bubbles when the engine in running?

the fan likely has its own fuse and relay and is triggered by the compressor power line, AC dude will jump up and down without it running cause it ups the pressure and makes shit die, apparently

Heater slide definitely works the sight glass didn't seem to have much going on but it did have gas passing through it what does the sensor on the receiver drier do if it doesn't trigger the fan ?

it tells the thingo that runs the show if the pressure is within specs, low it cuts in to pump it up, once it gets high it cuts it out

if you see bubbles you likely have a leak

with your new edit it can also mean its low on gas, wont cut in to save itself then

Ok well I'll try and test the fan circuit and I'll get it looked at by an a/c place thanks for the help fellas
