i've seen a couple ones that look good and are simple.

You could bolt a straight bar across the top of the windscreen on to those rubber stopper thingys.

or if you can bend tube, you can make one that bolts on to your door hinges and goes up and follows the curve of your windscreen.

There is a problem with this bar...
When i have the lights on, its only really good for spread over short distance, because the lights reflect of my bonnet and window!
It makes every spot of dust light up so its like glare..
I was gonna make like a visor under them but maybe later..

The bar is full custom(i made it) as i was wondering what went in the holes in the window? Until i made it then saw others with the rubber bumpstoppers, which id never use anyway..

The holes in the windo are drilled right through, with stainless bolts and a slice of push bike tube rubber inbetween. Pretty much angle cut to size and 25x25 rhs ,capped ends and spaced holes 4 spotties, the wiring is then run under, inbetween the vinal slot and the button and tied down the pillar til in the dash. Hard to explain

Later on i may just get the bikini so its like a ute, then put the bar over the roof pillar, like what u want, but i may go the fastback top option

mounting them over the roof pillar should stop the reflection problem i've been thinking and if i could weld i'd make sort of an outer roll bar that mounts where those plastic panels are at the bottom of the pillar then then i could use the full top

probably be ok on the B pillar, but you'd have to keep your soft top on so you didn't get glare back from the windscreen?, but i guess you'd keep the soft top on in tasmania anyway ? :)

Here's a link to a dude on outers who is making a bar similar to what you are describing. http://www.outerlimits4x4.com/ftopic136048.php

A couple of years ago, I drove up to Ben Lomond with the roof off - it was a beautiful day in Launceston. When I got up there it started snowing. 8O
By the time I had the roof on I was freezing, and trying to get the press-studs on was just painful.
