Yeah. You could sell it and have $14-15K to spend on a kick-ass sierra

Wouldn't going smaller tyres reduce power as you are effectively shifting down the torque/power curve for a given RPM? ie a smaller tyre rotates slower then a bigger tyre for a given RPM (speed)? Good for highway cruising though as you are using less fuel but less good for power.

Smaller tyres won't increase power but WILL increase torque at the ground.
Smaller tyres have to spin faster to do the same road speed so engine revs and fuel consumption will both rise compared to standard size tyres.

there isnt much choice out there for jimnys, zukenutter had some and he said it would scream on the highway, 4500rpm or something.
so if you are gonna any sot of touring, it might not be the best idea.
maybe you should just buy a commodore to get your speed fix?
or even a 1980's excel, im driving one at the moment and it is way faster and easier to dive then the jimny,

well in that case gearing is probably the best option, i think you can put a sierra trasnfer case in and get the gears for that, opens up a few more options for ya, and might be cheaper.

yep, sierra Transfer case with whatever gears you want.
With only 235s I would probably go 4.9:1.

4.1:1 gears would get you a reasonable low, and about right on the road
