yo aaron,what size are yours?31s would be plenty big enough i think yeah?also makes them a little easier to turn

bit of gearing and 31s should leave bulk torque with a good set of km2s

mine are 31x10.5r15 and i run 5.14tcase gears (calmini).

i've got the added torque of a 1.6efi engine as well though =)

ideally i'd love 32x9.5... i reckon that would be spot on for my lift etc. the simex's were close being a 32x10.5 (31's that measured 32) - but the tread pattern was no good for rocks/shale/gravel.

the km2, while smaller and by far superior for the terrain in summer. and being that it doesnt rain in perth anymore i'm really wondering what to get for winter tyres now! lol

I run 33x12.5 bighorns on my cruiser and 31x10.5 treps on the zook

can't fault both of them for the price.

really impressed with the treps on most terrain and are reasonably quiet on the bitumen

bighorns and km2's are so close in terms of offroad capaibity that having them for winter tyres is just a waste.
on road the km2 are marinally better and the bighorns are marginly better off road so you are splitting hairs there.

price wise the bighorn are quite a bit cheaper

and before you ask
yes I have had a couple of sets of km2's and numerous sets of bighorns

Alien you really want something like a simex (which you had) a silverstone extreame or swamper type tyre IMO for a winter tyre.
swampers may be better for you WA guys as you don't get the rain we do here
swampers work great on rock ,clay ,shale and mud but not quite as good in the mud as simex . But they are shit on the road IMO

yeah thats it - my plan was to get silverstones, or even the swamper SSR (radial variant)... being that i daily drive my sierra whatever i choose is going to be on there all winter including driving to work. The simex wore super fast (as you'd expect) but they suffered so badly on rocks etc through not bagging out and having not lateral stability - the side lugs were way too big and just let the back slide sideways - VERY scary on cross slopes.
