Hi guys,
Over the weekend was working on my soft top vit, that Ive decided to fix up. The cars been sitting around for a year and a half and hasnt been started in that time. Have replaced several items and finally got it to kick over. The issue is the two pipes that have arrows to them in the pictures both have rusted through in pretty much the same spot on both pipes. so as a result fluids leaking out everywhere. Any ideas what can do?
got quoted $200 for a pair of second hand replacement pipes

Pipes should cost you no more that $50 second hand. I paid $30 for mine. They even came with the banjo bolts.

oh ok really, yeah I thought that was a bit expensive. doesnt seem to be 2 many vits in the wreckers locally. They suggested getting someone to repair it, however would rather just replace the pipes

Are you sure they are rusted and not rubbed through?
Replacement is the best solution but sometimes a ferrule can be fitted to cover the breach.

Thanks For the advice guys.
Bluesuzy. The actual pipes look & seem pretty good so think there all ok
Want33s. I think its rusted, sorry not 100% sure by what you mean when you say rubbed through. Theres alot of rust around where the hole is. then can see a tiny hole if you look closely where its obviously leaking from

Get yourself a scotch brite pad ( kitchen scourer) and rub the offending area to remove any surface rust etc. Go at it for a little while untill its starts to come up shiny. Then take a pic and post it up. Because without seeing the damage, no-one here will be able to offer you a more accurate appraisal than ' Replace it'.
Personally I would just get another set from the wreckers, as having a repaired high pressure line on my P/S fail while in the bush doesn't impress me much.

thanks fatzook, will try a few other wreckers on the weekend and If I have no further luck tracking a replacement down then will do that and post the pic up then. I agree with you though would much rather replace it, that wouldnt be great at all if it failed in the middle of nowhere :/
