Just been pricing up some of the stuff for my snorkle project. 8O

just wondering if anyone has parts for a snorkle lying around or is able to get things cheaper than i can.

i need. with prices i've been quoted

- 3" Silicon Hose. - 62.70 at 1/2 meter 8O
- 3" Clamps - 7.25 Ea.
- 3" Air Ram - 42
- 3" Stainless Tube... $$ Very Fu$%$%g expensive!!!

i live in sydney btw, so anything interstate would obviously have to add on postage... but im sure you all already realised this...

1. I'm Looking at replacing the Airfilter unit to one off Western Filters website. its an 8" housing Just wondering if anyone actually know the CFM Measurement for the G16b's??? hopefully will fit under bonnet...

2. may have to do a slight relocation of the Fuse units next to the battery. has anyone done this before??? and what exactly does it entail???
:)
3. At somestage i would also like to put a 2nd battery under the hood... is it possible to fit one over near the brake booster....

sorry. so many questions so little time... :)

Cheers again

are you sure you want to make a snorkel for a vitara?

you might have fun fitting it around the shape of the guard as it is a bit of an irregular shape. the hole for where my safari snorkel will be is right on where the guard creases and flares out. a safari one is about 390 + fitting, depending on if you do it yourself or not.

if you still want to make your own you can have my safari snorkel fitting template when im done with it.

yes i do realise this. I am however pretty keen to fit this up myself...

i don't really wanna fork out 400 odd dollars for a snorkle.

i just asked one of the blokes from work, i can now get the Stainless tube. and clamps for free. which will cheapen this alot. the most expensive bit on this now is just the Silicon Hose and the POD Filter.

I Guess I'll suckit n see 8)

If your handy at welding or know someone who is then give it a go of bending and welding up one yourself. That's what I'm thinking of doing. I was going to use exhause pipe.

silicon tube is available from truck supply joints for alot cheaper than the tarted up "race" shops.

the stuff that ive seen only comes in black, but its a metric arseload cheaper than that.

$400 to protect your engine and stop you drowning your car in a water crossing isn't a bad investment, really...

It's the same as what I've got and it's pretty much the same as original. I think $250 is a very reasonable price for a propper snorkel.

BTW the clamp for the head only cost me $2.50, where did you get your $7 price from?

I didn't have a holesaw to cut out the hole, but a jigsaw worked well too.

Don't know if you are still after the silicon and stainless piping now but for that I have always gone ebay. Heaps on there for the go fast crowd and much cheaper.
