x10000 ever since I took mine 'off the road', I've driven it more times around the back yard, up and down the driveway more than actual wheeling.

As I said in my first post in this thread. It needs maintenance. Any car can be brought back to life (well nearly any car). I just finished a $3000, 2 month maintenance job on my Sierra. Frustrated doesn't even get close to how I felt at times, BUT, I know thats how it is. If I didn't want to be spending all my money, free time and anergy on my Suzukis; I'd sell them all off, and go buy some little new boring car to run to and from work in, and take up knitting to fill in time...

Trust me champ. The meagre saving on rego by no means helps. Cammo would probably owe me the best part of $15K ( sum of parts only) and its still not finished. I want to do tough tracks etc in it eventually, but by then I estimate it will owe me around $20K to get it to a complete and reliable state.

My ute is undergoing a rebuild now which will probably see its value sit at about $15K.

My V6 Maruti owed me $18-20K

I spent about 4k to 5k on top of the price I payed for the car.
All the money that's been spent was to keep it going so not really worth while mods.

X whatever we are up to. Mine will total up to around 20 grand after these last lot of mods, and the motor is going to need replacing in the next year or so. It gets wheeled 4-5 times a year and by the looks of things comps are going to be few and far between over here this year

You need a local Sierra guy to come over, take a look, and give you a hand. Make some friends with sierra's and let them teach you the ropes of maintenances and trouble spots with the Zook.

Take it off the road, but keep your rego. Spend your spare time fixing it up, so it will run when you want to take a quick trip out to go wheel, or beat the snot out of it. Keep i mind the harder you beat it, the more time you need to fix it before your next trip.

Do a virtual lift, have a friend weld the rear, stuff the biggest tires you can legal fit under it, and have and have fun.

As log as the engine and drive train is working, the rest is easy, it's just the little stuff. Grab a manual or FSM, and start learning about it. off to hep other sierra owners build,and fix their rig for experience.

I have met a few sierra (samurai here) guys who were frustrated with their rigs. I spent a little bit of time with them showing them the ins and outs, and now they wheel with me, it's a good trade off for making good wheeling buddies.

Some of the most fun, reliable, capable sierras have been budget built simple rigs. or just near stock with big tires stuffed under them.

Well I'm not really I've done traineeship nd tafe in mechanics and small engines, so I kinda know what I'm doing but still learning

What's wrong with it is a broken key barrel
So it's a easy fix but I'm sic of fixing one thing then some thing else fails
Didn't even get out of the driveway and it shit it self so it's been sitting for neally a month lol

We have spent 2yrs neally on rego nd it's only has had 500km worth of driving on the rd and that after the rebuild.
It's not even warn in yet
The rest it's been getting fixed or just sitting there

I get frustrated with it quite easy .
So its coming of the Road and can sit there until I come up with a idea what to do with it:)

No problem, if you go with 6:5's get them from Low Range Offroad, and their lifetime warranty.

You break the gears, and send them back, they replace e'm no questions asked as long as you have the invoice and the broken parts to send them.

6:5's will give you all your road gearing back, and make the low range really really low for off road with 31's you won't need anymore gear than that

I meant low gearing, not low power. The 6:5's will give you a TON of power in low range but ,one of the side effects is you have very high RPM's in 5th gear low range. So it may not move fast in low range.

With a 16 valve you should have no problem running in 4wd High if you want though.

Yeah. it's not bad at all. You will love the power the gears will give you in both high and low range though.

IMHO with bigger tires they should be one of, if not the very first mod. When I got my 4:1 case it was like a whole new rig.
