This may be a silly idea but how would a g16b head fitted to a gti motor perform and has it been done before?

Now that the original question has been answered, I think, I have some questions slightly off topic.

I am use to having to ring the neck of the stock 1.3l sometimes so how does the power torque range compare between the stock 1.3 and the GTI ? I mean other then the amounts obviously, are the curves the same, do they hit peak power/torque around the same amount of revs or are they completely different ?

If the car has alot of gearing ( 99-125:1 compared to 30:1 stock ) is that able to bring the power/torque band back into a more useable range ?

dont forget the gti's had forged everything from the factory, not to mention they make more power and torque that a standard 1.3 everywhere in the rev range, so it would be safe to say that it would be a vast improvement. Iam unsure what everyone means buy saying they are a crap motor for offroad considering with gears most cars crawl up everything anyway not to mention the amount of aftermarket parts available. I suspect many people criticizing have never been in a gti sierra, maybe I'm wrong but either way i will find out in the next few weeks

I was thinking along a similar line as I thought the stronger bottom end of the gti and increased haed flow of the g16b would make a good platform for a turbo motor

That might be a bit of a shortcut for those looking to turbo their G13 sierra motor. Fit a G16B head to a G13B block ( not even sure if thats possible....) But more than likely these days the GTi bottom end will be worn to the point that it needs boring, honing, OS piston/ rings etc, and mayve other work just to get it to the point where it could reliably withstand forced induction. Even the GTi boys have crank, rod and block work done for forced induction.

Now I know the 1.6 8 valve head will stick on a sierra 1.3 block, and vise versa.

So will a sierra 1.3 head fit on a GTI bottom end? if it will, then I would venture to say, yes. (could be wrong)

I think over at phht what's that forum name where they hop up geo's metro's? lol... redlinegti.net? Yup, Here it is. I'm pretty sure these guys have done just about nay type of hybrid motor that can be done hey?

http://www.redlinegti.com/forum/

and the other let me see....

http://www.teamswift.net/

Not much may come of it, but I like to learn all I can about the options that are out there, bad or good, at least I know what can and can't be done. so this is all soaking up the information for me.

Im not to sure how much longer my cams stayed open but they where very lumpy lol bd14 (rally spec) my gti sounded like a rotary but there was alot of other mods that help out

Bord out AFM
SR20TB
