Is there a trick to it, cause I can't seem to get near the old one to remove it. Anybody know the steps to changing it?

No trick. Its a shitty job, you may need some long reach or ratchet spanners to make it easier, but really you just have to force your hand down there. Its uncomfortable, and you WILL lose skin/ blood.

I have to change mine on the SV420 today. Solenoid crapped out

Doing one at the moment to.. Although the inner guard has been trimmed so access is somewhat easier but still a bitch of a job..

go front underneath, thats what i did.

Remove the intake support bracket, than you could get a forklift in there..
3 14mm headed bolt's & a couple of clip's & said bracket's off...

haha now im dreading mine even more... my starter solenoid was going last winter (got water in it) but its since fixed itself - but thats just been replaced by the starter solenoid going 'click' and not turning the motor... sometimes takes 3-4 goes to get it to kick in =(

i'll wait till its consistently taking a few goes before doing it now... lol

Well, getting the bracket off was a piece of piss. However, getting to the start motor is still a nightmare. In the end, the starter motor won, and I lost. Walked away cursing to myself.

Anyone keen to do what should be a 20 minute job for a slab?!

Bring it down my way and I will. In the past year and a half I've owned my zook, I've had my brushes replaced 3 or 4 times.

Its a bitch of a job, but after doing it so many times, its not a problem

my starter is starting to make a strange noise, it doesnt stop straight away. u can hear it still spinning...for about 2-3 seconds after the motor is running (not engaged on flywheel tho)....does this mean anything?? sorry for the hi-jack.
