Hi guys,

I am thinking to lift my 98 GV, maybe around 2.5" lift. Not that i am going to buy it stright away. It depends on the price and my boss really. Hopefully it will get lifted before end of the year.

Anyone can suggest proper/safe lift for my 98 GV? What I meant by proper is that it will not weakend any standard parts and safe fo the passengers.

I read about Calmini 2.5" suspension system and it looks pretty complete. but I dont think I can get Calmini here in melbourne. If I can, how much are they? Thanks

Does it come as a kit ? or I need to know what I want like shocks, spring, etc? How much are they?

OME wont get you 2.5" but you dont want to lift a GV that much anyway

they dont have a kit as such but you go in and tell em what you do and accessories and so on and they build it up for you with the right rate springs and correct length shocks

best bit is is works properly together, rather than trying to match it all yourself and having a few goes at it

I got my GV lifted through ARB with the OME package and would recommend it to anyone.
Took them a day to do- they had issues with the front strut, and then the mechanic got something in his eye and had to go to the doctor lol.
They say normally 4-6hrs to do the job.
I got 'heavy duty' springs and they are not too firm and drives great.
Ended up with roughly 50mm lift.
Final cost was about a grand all up (I got mates rates, normal retail about $1300 I think).

I don't know whats in the Calmini kit, but from memory the OME kit has shocks, struts and springs. Royce?
I did as much research as I could online as well as on the ground and found the OME to be the best value and easiest for a non *titter* mechaphile like myself.
Are you in a zook club? They could help, or try askinghere...
Makes it sound like I work at ARB/OME (I don't), but they're your best bet IMHO.

But if Calmini is not available locally probably I will go with what available/supported locally. In case something happen and I need to replace one of the part.

For someone like me I think I need something that comes as a package. coz I dont know anything about lifting a 4WD. I just dont want to lift but the lift will affect other part of the car who knows what.

2.5" Calmini is US$995 plus approx US$400 delivery. do you think that is a good price? any thought? maybe from some one who has used the kit before?

the calmini kit is full of bits you dont need cause americans like to get lots of bits you dont need in a big box when they buy stuff

the calmini springs are way too stiff unless you have a bomb proof front abr and winch and dual batteries and a few spare engines in the back

the front struts are the same length as standard so you gain bugger all

the diff drop brackets are a good idea to save the CV's but they add extra leverage to things and twist

the bottom arms are good to correct camber, but so are a set of $80 camber pins

the OME kit
you get the stiffness springs you need for your car, no bar or anything on the front then you can get the lighter springs, carry a lot or tow, then get heavy rears and so so

the struts and shocks are longer than stock so you get more flex

it doesnt lift it too high so you end up with a wollowing pig thats crap to drive and snaps things off all the time
