have done my vitara engine swap, but engine fowls bonnet my about an inch id say. so am looking at doing a 2" body lift, much to my distaste..

does anyone have any opinions on fit and quality v's cost for a kit?

and mabey some links to a sales page?

just put a 1inch spacer on your bonnet hinges, zookimonsta did that on his haha its also a good heat disapator thingy majig

mm i would like to keep the outside looking as close to stock as possible body wise, the cops in this town are assholes.

looks like a just cruzin bl it is then. might get a transfer lift then too whyle im under there.

don't be lazy. Make new engine mounts that lower your motor. I have fitted 2 G16B vit motors under a 1L bonnet with NO body lift. Sump clearance was fine in both cases.

ahh fuuuuu lol i forgot i had to fit a 1.3 sump

being a vitara motor, with no crank angle sensor on the sump, the 1.3 sump should fit with no welding needed ay? just the pick up modded?

any chance of having the motor sitting like that, but with engine mounts that bolt to the stock chassis mounts? (the two bolt plates ether side)

i suppose make a plate that bolts to the chassis, with the pick ups off it, and make the engine plates and bushes to suit..

back to the drawing board..

If you do full RUF at the same time you can keep the vit sump.

And I'm not sure if you could mount the motor that low and not modify the rail mounts sorry.

I'll take some pics of my mounts tomorrow arvo. They use a fish plate on the rail, but use VL crummydore mounts onto the sierra engine block mounts. Its a smidge taller than the link above, but easily clears a 1.3L bonnet.

heres how it sits at the moment, drivers side (1.3 mount) isnt bolted to the rail.

and my welding skills is ok, i made a car trailer that has done afew 800k round trips with no hassles. done with stick, and i have a cigweld proffesional series mig (175i)

that is where the bonnet sits on top of the plenum.

mine sits wayyy lower than that... the rubbers in the mount there are massive compared to mine.

Here is mine with VL mounts. These mouns clear a 1.3L bonnet by 20 or 30mm with no BL. I have just used the sierra mount brackets between the Rubber mount and block, then welded a fish plate to the rail and made mounts to bridge the rest of the gap.

see, thats what i would like to avoid, is the cutting of the stock plates and welding on something like you have above. not that i dont trust my welds.

thats more or less the only way to do it?

by the way, my mounts are r31 skyline mounts. i assumed they would be the same?

do you reccomend me put the 1.3 sump on, or leave the 1.6 one? im so confused now..

Mate there are a million ways to fuck this cat.

What I usually do is get the motor sitting at the height you want it..... wedge some blocks of timber etc in to hold it there, then start putting the oieces of the puzzle together. You will have your own unique set of issues to tackle with keeping the chassis mounts.

All I can suggest is that you do this ^^^^^ and take some pics and post 'em up.

Are you doing RUF? if yes, leave the sump. If no, then you may have to swap it.

i will be doing a ruf, and a ful ruf, extending the chassis abit for the shackle hangers. still unsure of that springs im running in the rear. but eh.

the passenger side mount in the pics i put up are r31 mounts. they look identical to me. will start from scratch now.

will ether cut off the stock plates from the chassis and do as you have above, or make custom motor plates and make mounts from that.

and make up a gearbox mount for the vitara box aswell, so it sits a little lower than it does atm, as the shifter plate is hard against the tunnel. and so the jack shaft isnt on such a insane angle.

ether way will be back to the drawing board, and you have given me some good ideas, fatzook. thankyou.

will get in touch for a tank guard etc once its running.

If you do full RUF, then leave the sump for now.

I flared my tunnel to suit the vit gearbox. Also made a shifter neck adaptor so as to keep the sierra shifter.

If you are making a new gearbox mount aswell, then this is the perfect opportunity to move the engine back and down. This will help slightly with COG, but give you better sump clearance with the 1.6 sump.

The mounts will only take you a few hours. Have a good think about all your options before you chop 'em off tho
