decided i want to paint my aluminium bullbar matte black (is currently unpainted), any particular kind of paint and any prep-work i should know of?

u can get etch primer to suit aluminium. spray that first then the paint.
maybe give it a rub with wet n dry first to ruff up the surface

awesome cheers. at first i was thinkin i'd just clean it up and smash some spray paint on it haha... but then i decided doing it properly would be the best

Wipe it down with wax and grease remover before painting

Can clean, sand, prime and paint if you want, it will give the best results.

I just gave mine a wipe and hit it with the rattle can a couple of times, and it's actually holding up quite well considering the punishment it's had since.

I did the same as darkhorse. Just cleaned it and got the $2 matt black spray!
It has held up really well considering the cost.
