i've got a 32/36 weber on my zook with one of the shiny round airfilters (mines red ) but i think it is restricting the carby, i read somewhere that they car made to take air straight down the throat not from the side like it does with the air filter i've got.
does anyone have pics of air filter set ups they are running on a weber or setups with a snorkel on a weber?
cheers

it only starts to be a problem if the top of you air cleaner is very close to your carby throat. anything under a 1.5" between the carby and hat might cause a problem but the sierra engine doesn't really use much air so if the air cleaner is clean you'll be fine.

most webbers are like that
i'd be changine the pri jet to a smaller one, will make a big change to the car and the fuel it uses. a good carby shop will be able to work out what one is pretty close.
does the car bog down much? even with light load? if so you will prob be running rich and even worst when you go w.o.t

its been a few years since i worked on a webber but if i remember right (might of been a holly i'm thinking of) you can take out the pri jet pretty easy. go get a pri jet 2 steps down to lean it out a bit and see how that goes.

i downloaded a weber manual for a sierra so i'll just try to work out what i have to take apart
would the manifold have anything to do with it?

yes if there is a big step from the bottom of the carby to manifold but the jet will have more of an effect because the mixture is out to start with. and escort engine it about 1/3 bigger than a sierra so 1/3 more fuel is going in the engine.
the manifold will upset air speed but that isn't a big problem till you port heads and start dropping the air speed going past the vavles

my manifold has the flange off the escort manifold welded on in place of the suzuki and its all been smoothed out and shit so that should be better than using an adapter plate
would it matter that its a pre polution carby?

only if you get pulled over
the jets will make a huge difference! i had a stroker 308 that never reved past 5000, was running rich when driving and running out of fuel when reving.
changed the pri jet 2 steps down and sec jets 3 up. 1st time out with nothing change reved to 7800 still pulling before i backed off and broke one of my axles from the lights on the way home huge change!! it drove a lot better, started easyer and got about 100 extra k's out of the tank from just changing the jets and nothing else. the carby was a holly 750 dp so was really big for the car to start with but great when into it.

i'm not a holden fan by any strech of the imagination but i still think its a shame when that sort of thing happens
panel vans are cool
i've never met someone who has a car like that, that they didn't regret selling

most of the time its because of the money they put in. i had the car for 4 years and out of that 4 years it was on the road for 5 months. i kept breaking things because i got shafted with party that weren't what was told so they broke. so now i do all my work myself and then i know its done right. its also heaps cheaper!

yeah and if you do it yourself you can do things that mechanics won't do or think are unsafe

If youd put weber as the thread name you would have got my attention sooner!!!
Ok I had 1 of those 9" chrome pos on mine and changed it to a lynx ramflo (about $50) and it made an improvement striaght induction instead of up and over choke horns.
Yuo have to jet the weber for the zuk engine to make it perform, you think its good now wait till you jet it properly
Starting guide only,
primary/ secondary
idle 55/60 50
main 140 140
air 170 160
e tubes f50 f50
This is a guide and the secondary will depend on what size aux jet you are running base is for 3.5 aux, 4.5 possibly smaller jets.
E tubes are expensive (approx $20 each) but will make it run better.
Mine was always rich at idle till I changed to f50 e tubes.
At w.o.t. the weber will realy roar but when jetted correctly are quiet good on fuel as you rarely need the secondaries.
Intake work will also reap rewards smooth taper from adapter into manifold and plenium into runners.
Im setting up a 38 which is a syncro so both throats open together and a fully ported manifold. Still in the sorting stage but more power than the 32/36.
For more info go to www.performancewebers.com or check out weber info on www.zuwharrie.com
Check out your jets and post up to see if we can better it for you.
Youll also need to do a plug test to see how primary and secondaries are running.
Nik
Heres my latest set up
