I have a Sierra 1.3 and need to tow a caged hire trailer with 600kgs of stuff.

Going from Sydney to Brisbane.

How do you rekon I'll go with this?

Does the trailer have brakes?

I believe the unbracked capacity of a sierra is 400kg and braked is 750kg.

yeah but how i read it its 600 kilos ontop of the weight of the trailer. thats gonne be way over 750

total towing capacity of a sierra is 450kg, makes no difference if there are trailer brakes or not.

there is no way i would tow a trailer with a sierra on either of the highways between sydney and brisbane.
just going over the moony moony bridge would suck shitloads.

In my old Sierra 1.3 I use to tow a 6x4 trailer filled with soil from Beaudesert to Canungra. Went pretty sweet in the 8 or 9 trips I did then.

Just wasn't sure of hire trailers, and can't get one way utes for hire on short notice

i tow a trailer that is over 1450kg with my sierra. i just wouldn't do it down your way

mate just pretend your a truck. go slow up the hills in low gear, go slow on the steep downhills using engine braking to not overheat the brakes, careful around corners.

i tow a trailer that is over 1450kg with my sierra. i just wouldn't do it down your way

Back when I was still at school and had a Sunday job pushing trolleys, they used to use them as trolley trucks, the trailer was fairly hefty to begin with, but then they put 36 trolleys on it, I can't remember whether the trolleys are 40 or 80kg, but either way, I'm pretty sure it was up over the 2t mark. They used to just use low range because it was in a carpark!
