hey all i was driving my 2ltr v6 auto vitara down the highway yesterday and the engine light came on for a bit and turned off it done it a couple of times i checked the owners manual and it says something about emission control how to i diagnose this or fix it

it could be a number of things that's caused the CEL (check engine light) or MIL (malfuction indicator light) to come on under those conditions, one of the most common causes is a lazy o2 sensor.
to retrieve the error codes from the ecu, you need to make a suzuki special tool, the diagnostic tool numberis #564425681687934...
mine is made from some thin wire & covered in electrical tape & heat shrink.
attached is a word document explaining how to retrieve the error codes. let us know how you get on with the codes, there is a universal o2 sensor that can be used for about $100 or a genuine one at around $330.

L/h o2 sensor........ got me buggered why, but the gv's do the same thing, always the l/h one....

There's 2 on the J20s?
Mine went on the G16B - got CEL after a few minutes at 100kmh. Easy to replace and hasn't happened since.

by the fact he is saying l/h would suggest to me he is talking about the v6
they have one on each side one of mine needs replacing im guessing left hand just gotta have the time and money to do it

How heavy are u talking? Also do you have the part number for those o2 sensors? Is yours the v6?

my original one lasted 70,000kms, my universal Bosch lasted 80,000kms. I know what I'll be putting back in.

big difference between that & a rico special..
I have never had success with multi fit's, to the point I wouldn't fit em.....

ok i done the diognistics and it flashed code 12 i looked up on the attachment and apparently its all good ok what is the next step to getting falt codes or working out why its chewing so much bloody fuel i got 200ks out of 3/4 of a tank on 215/75s whats the go with it??????????

could the timing be out,knock sensor? it is was rooted it would throw codes? i have reset the computer i cant pull the cat off and knock the guts out of it then it wont be blocked

I'm not saying you should do that, but I would....
If the knock was buggered it would ping under heavy acceleration...

It's not pinging or anything it hasn't thrown codes since I done the oxy sensors so I have no idea of what to do now
