i was looking at my exhaust today and realised its fairly bent towards the end it was made by an exhaust place and they just used a normal bender so where it comes out from under the car there is a 90degree bend that seems fairly restrictive.
it there any reason why they put the 90degree bend in it?
would i be better off cutting it off before the bend?
i've seen a few zooks with cannon mufflers on them are there any benefits or are they on there for the sheer wank factor?

maybe they wanted to keep it similar to the manufactures design?? wen i bought myn it was stock as and it poked out to the side (its since bin chopped and faces straight out the back).
if it a mandrel bend (no ripples) it should be fine..
You only want no back pressure if you run a turbo,but you want it slightly restrictive if it n/a

chop it off and put a bling chrome end on it? just be carefull it doesn't sit low, because when you reverse in to a dirt bank or are in a situation where your exhaust end digs in to the dirt going backwards the car stops, and you have to dig it out before the car will start again

or just leave it pointing sideways

they are like that standard so the fumes dont suck into the cabin with the rear rolled up, if you go straight out you need to pass the bumper by about 2" to do the sames

I had the bent sideways exhaust and swapped it for a straight out the back one and now the fumes suck in the car big time. Doesn't matter if the back is up or down, the top doesn't seal well enough to keep the fumes out. They look gay poking out sideways but at least the fumes don't come in. I'm thinking about doing an out the side, in front of the rear wheel exhaust now

out the side is a million times worse, I couldnt open the passenger side window or close the drivers one cause you jsut about pass out, even with the top off

mine currently exits the car under the passenger floor... .. running from the extractors into a un-needed cat, into about 4 inches of pipe...
but previously to that was running under chassis(not my doing) and exiting in front of the passenger side rear wheel. It did point slightly downwards but never had a problem with sucking fumes. Even in its current state the fumes arnt noticeable(or maybe im just suckin em in and not realising!?) also its quieter now than with the stock manifold and 'semi-complete' system!

Went to an exhaust place the other day and they refused to put the exhaust where i wanted it. same position as it was(in front of rear passenger wheel, just OVER the chassis not under it ) due to the 18" of an opening door/window..

SO.. am thinkin of just gettin the bends, some pipe, and a permi marker, alighning it all as required, marking and giving the bits to a mate to weld up an hey presto! maybe swap the useless cat for a proper muffler/hotdog or similar..

have a complete system(rear exiting) i COULD put on.. but nah... so if anyone is after it.. PM me. LOL.

i think the end needs to go its such a crap exhaust its not welded together properly, all the mounts have broken off
should i stick with the massive muffler i've got a go a nice bling ricer one?

keep it original but try to get something with a nice note. big cannon ones

i was thinking of a little cannon it would probably sound a bit better than what i got at the moment (sounds lawn mowerish ?

i was thinking of getting one with the tip pointed down and having that come out under the car or something

this way you would have to get an exhaust shop to do it properly if you want more bends but the point of this topic was you didnt like the bends wasnt it?

yeah i didn't like the 90degree bend at the end they didn't use a mandrel bender so the diameter of the pipe in the middle of the bend would be less than an inch

i didn't get it done the previous owner got it done and someone bent it more on a rock

my old zorst with the 1.3, i got fumes after i cut the end bend off, as it looked ghey. But bad mistake...

Now i have the 1.6efi, Extractors, then cat, then 2" throughout and with 1 triple flow muffler just in front of the shocks

its only a 1.3 isnt it?it will hardly be restricted by anything, just run (from the manifold) maybe a 1.5'' or 2'' pipe with cat and a "hot dog"-reasonator with a chome tip from super crap??? i rekon that wud b pretty cool.well im only a young bloke so I suggest going to your local exhaust place,then posting what they tell you,then seeing what people rekon??

As mentioned the exhaust kicks out to the side to stop fumes coming back into the vehicle.

Currently my exhaust exits straight out the back and the fumes are bloody aweful. Top up or down it doesn't make much difference. On my first zook (SWB) I had a 2" body lift on it and was able to bring the pipe out in front of the rear passenger tyre. Because of the bodylift I was also able to get it over the chassis rail. I never had a problem with fumes wth it in that position, though it is illegal I believe.

My suggestion would be to leave it as it is, as changing it is not going to make much difference. Think about the time and $ you will spend dicking with it and what else you could put that time and $ towards that would be more worthwhile, you'll come up with something for sure.

18 inches from an opening (so I was told) is the legal requirement. be it side, front, top, or rear.. makes me wonder about lake pipes and such on things like the AC cobra....

downwards at an angle to the horizontal of not less than 15 degrees and not more than 45 degrees.
The exhaust outlet, if to the rear, shall discharge at not less than 10 degrees above or 45 degrees below the
horizontal.

If it came like that stock then you're fine.

Those cars either came like that stock from thef actor Fool or they are on restricted club registtration I reckon. Restricted club seems to let you do lots of "Illegal" stuff.
