What are you trying to achieve? Better shackle angle? Lift? etc...

I know you want extended shackles, but do you NEED them? They are good for correcting sackle angles when doing RUF, but imO should not be used for lift only. Do you have a side on pic of your shackle angle?

yes and no. Its more that they can improve the 'range' of travel. If your shackles are sitting almost horizontal, any uptravel may cause the shackles to invert. Extended shackles would thenlessen the angle, giving a more usefull uptravel. Down travel will also be increased, but only by half of the extended value of the shackle.
They are no miracle cure for poor flex. But they are effective given the right circumstances.
Pic would be good

For increased suspension abilites i.e. more softness/travel you ideally want your shackle angle to be close to 45 as it allows more ideal upwards travel and droop.
By increasing shackle length you effectively reduce this angle (and it sounds like yours is failry limted already) in order to gain more anlge longer leafs are required as the eye of the leaf pushes the bottom of the shackle out wards from the chassis.
As fat said they can work under the right circumstances but in others actually increase the harshness of ride
However back the 1 inch shackles i was also wondering about them inorder to regain some height in the back of my car. I have king springs in the front of my car which havent sagged at all, however my rear OME's have sagged substantially (have a good shckle angle) and the whole car know sits drooped towards the rear. or i could just get OME fronts which will soften the front aswell

You need longer springs. If your stockos are near verticle, then ANY extended shackles will make them even closer to vericle. This will reduce the springs ability to compress under load ( less uptravel) and make the ride very harsh.
And Choppy; How much have yor springs sagged? 1" extended shackles would give a barely noticable 10mm of lift.

A new longer spring will have it sitting at 30 degrees. A sagged longer spring will sit at 45ish. But this all depends on the spring manufacturer as they are all dfferent lengths. If you do not already have RUF, then it might be worth looking into.

this is what i was thinking in oreder to lift it back to 'level' id have to use 2 inch shackles but i dont really want to have significantly different sized shackles fornt and rear. ill probably just replace my king fronts with OME and let it sag to an even level

almost exact situation i had, i used to have kings all round and foudnt hem terrible for ride comfort. YES as some will say they dont sag easily and give you more then 2" lift but the harshness of ride is too much to handle IMO. I removed leaves and was riding on 3 front and back, helped a little but once i put OME in the rear the difference was astounding considering their 5 leaves ...
As you stated at the start of the thread your looking for suspension improvement, removing leaves or getting softer springs will do this. I think in your case this is the best option and perhaps just get another set of std. shackles rather then extended to start off with. There are alot of sierras around with just 2" spring lifts on 29' or 30' tyers which can go anywhere. If you then wont more height look into BL and extended shackles but you be amazed how much more capable your rig will be wwith softer springs
LOW and FLEXY is the way

no worries mate, i only know as i had the exact same symptoms. ive also heard some good things about EFS springs as their fronts are slighlty longer then most other brands, everyone will have their own opionins though
