both wheels spin in an lsd only when one side has lost traction.eg: wen u see a burnout mark on the street and it sways from side 2 side in a continuous "s" shape-thats lsd,its wen both tyres grip, then the other side grips and so on,wheather as the detroit is continually locked 24/7.
pls. correst me if im wrong

Detroit Locker maximises traction by delivering 100% of the torque and power to both drive wheels. It is engineered to keep both wheels in a constant drive mode, yet has the ability to ‘unlock’ to permit necessary wheel speed differentiation.

thats a quote by the way
so it works a bit like an LSD but i locks completly when one wheel stops spinning i think :?

so an lsd locks when one wheel slips
a detroit locks when one wheel stops spinning
and a lockrite locks when you prss the accelorator

Lsd, slips and pis and farts around on rocks. If wheels are in the air, it does nothing. One will spin in the air, the other will just sit on the dirt and do nothing. Just like a normal diff.

An lsd is a little bit better then an open diff, but not worth the effort to put in.

Locker of any sort, If a wheel is in the air, it doesnt matter, The wheel on the ground will still drive to get you going.

If I put a mini spool/welded centre in the front diff, will it lock the wheels on unlocked hubs?or will it only lock the wheels when the hubs are locked?

When the hubs are unlocked you won't notice it's there, when the hubs are locked you will notice you can no longer steer.

a detroit and lockright will do the same thing but i think detroits are for more heavy duty stuff.

i think the best way to go is a lock right in the back 1st (you will be shocked at where you can go with just the rear done) then another in the front if you done have heaps of cash or a air locker in the front if you do.
