spare wheel behind cab

hey all

what do you all thing if i put the spare wheel behind the cab as i will be running out of room on the tray

If you do that you will have a pretty short tray

Would look better if it was standing up like that in the tray against the headboard

Joe: Just thinking out loud but would he be just moving the tray back to distance of the tyre and re mounting it, so he doesnt lose tray length?

I think its a good idea, Only 2 Cons I can see is:

Youll lose rear window view, and securing it and access may be a bit of a pain when you need to change a tyre or put a flat one back in..

I like the idea overall however, I've often thought that when i get a ute I'll be doing a similar thing but mounting jerry cans there instead, The tyre Idea didnt cross my mind... till now

i wasnt planing on cutting the tray as its only around 1.6m long allready

It would have a fair bit of overhang at the back then :blink:

My maruti has the extra cab sized body and a 1.55m tray. The overhang would be almost the same as what you show in your pic. I struggle to drag the ass on anything. It's SPOA on 33's though, so it's fairly high.

this is where i got the idea from a ww2 army truck theres ones the wheel sits is a hanger and it is pulled down when needed

But that would be above the axle, so just mount the spare behind the axle under the tray. You'd have a lot less overhang than you would with the tray moved back that far.

X2. Let it hang out the back of the chassis a bit. It certainly won't be hanging out past the tray......

just went to see if the spare would fit under the tray and it doesnt as the tires im running are 32"

Bodylift the tray only.

I run a 40l fuel tank and a 33" under mine.

that want help the wheel hits the mounts for the tray so it want go under
