Some cars can't be towed, unless on a trailer.
Some can't be towed unless front wheels off the ground.
I don't know the reasons, but will try to find the link.
Newer Suzuki Grand Vitaras have electronic switching of drive,
and they have a motorhome setting.

Sierras need a rear tailshaft disconnect fitted to ensure no transfer/gearbox damage is done when flat towing as they do not have a true neutral in the transfer case.

Jimny's I have no idea about....

I would be putting either vehicle on a trailer if towing with a decent sized motorhome.

Jimny's I believe are fine to be towed.

I have seen a sierra, a couple of jimny's and vitara's, even a feroza being towed behind a motorhome, all 4 wheels being towed by an A frame bolt on adapter, No trailer required. I noticed that there were brake cables fromt he motorhome to the car, so I presume it uses the cars brakes to help slow down, similar to a braked trailer would. But yes it is legal.

Just a quick google I found a company called Hitch N Go that make adapters for sierra's

depends on what the jimny gets used for once it comes off the trailer just a getabout or going feral. if going off road
1)transfer case protection
2)tyres
3)bull bar winch
4)lift
5)uhf at least
6) roof basket if required

if it is less than about 6 ton you might find you cant tow a trailer with car on legallly
