my theory has always been to run premium fuel but im starting to think different what fuel should i run in my sj70 every one is telling me to just run the cheap shit cheers luke p.s i run premium fuel in my mower too

if its a standard 1.3 sierra motor, i always ran premium too, mine would run like crap on any thing else

All depends on how you set your timing. If you don't want it to ping, run premo. Or retard the timing.

well two days ago i got it timed and tuned and tapets adjusted and it pings on both types of fuel

^ what he said. And don't use it in your mower, you'll get absolutely no gain from it. Unless your mower is running 12:1 compression ratio.

Possible yes, but after getting it tuned and timed a few days ago and now its pinging id be sussing that out first.

Maybe I'm a deaf bastard (I didn't think I was) but my last engine was burning 1L of oil per tank and I didn't hear it pinging...

The engine was loud as hell though all the time so maybe that's the pinging you're talking about, there was no "pinging" sound though like it was detonating, just sounded rough like it was worn out!

for me it depends where i get fuel from for some reason like theres this one place i go now dont know where it is but when i use there normal fuel it seems to run alot better and get more fuel efficiency

honestly, even if its 10 cents more for the 98 (which most places it is) for a 40 litre tank we're talking about a whole extra $4 to fill... for that tiny amount, why not use it??

I use 95 in my dd vitara it normally costs 60 bucks to
Fill up it cost 80 this weekend.
I don't feel any gain using 98 in my vit. My old Sierra I just ran cheap shit and didn't have a problem.

Working in an oil refinery and talking to the lab tech about the differences in the fuels i cant justify paying the extra amount. They put it down to peoples brains playing tricks on them and the actual gain being next to not noticable

BP Ultimate 98 in all my car, Ive owned turbocharged car since I got my license and continued with the sierra (1st n/a)

i dunno, i reckon my other car gets a little further to a tank using the 98. no noticeable power gains... same with the sierra, i reckon i get a little further to a tank. regardless, i just figure for 4-5 dollars it certainly wont hurt...
