Hey guys ive decided to put a baleno g16b into my coily sierra. Im dying to get the zook back on the road. its been about 2months since i killed the 1.3. im just waiting for a bloke at work to lend me his engine crane.

Ive done heaps of reading up on this forum to see what i need and how to do it. Im making a list of all the bits i need to get the job done. I would much appreciate if u guys could help me with. there are a few things im a bit vague on. Let me know if im missing something too :)

What ive got:

-Baleno 1.6 engine, loom, ecu and instrument cluster ($1100 from suzispares)
-BenT conversion kit
-New 1.3 radiator
-New starter motor (the narrower type)
-swift G13 thermostat housing

what i need to get

-New clutch (is it a sierra one i need)
-VSS (what car can i find one of these in) the baleno instrument cluster doesn't have it? am i right?
-Fuel pump, filter and high pressure hoses (will vl commodore pump be ok)?
-VL engine mounts??? someone was saying they are stronger. what ones do i need? V8 or 6?
-Extrators. is there a particular brand that will fit without modifying. some ppl are saying that some fit, some dont
- clutch cable and throttle cables. do i need to change these?

what i have to do
-Fit the housing for the crank angle sensor to the 1.3L sump
-Shorten the oil pickup in the sump
-Install the VSS to the sierra speedo
-Install the Tacho from the baleno instrument cluster

i think thats about it. if im missing something please let me know.
il probably be taking photos while im doing it so i might put them up on the forum. that way if i run into problems i can ask u guys.

Looking forward to the replies :)
Cheers, Dan

You don't need the Baleno speedo. Search for 'VSS'. There are a couple of threads on this.
You need to keep the Sierra flywheel.
You have a coily so dont bother with the VL pump, just get the vitara one and bolt it in ;)
Check my old build thread, lost of handy part numbers in there.

This thread will answer many of your questions. It also has links to other useful threads, in particular, how to make your own VSS :)

-VSS (what car can i find one of these in) the baleno instrument cluster doesn't have it? am i right?Make your own, or use one from a Vitara (I think)
-Fuel pump, filter and high pressure hoses (will vl commodore pump be ok)? Should be. I used Baleno pump in a Coily tank.
-VL engine mounts??? someone was saying they are stronger. what ones do i need? V8 or 6? 6
-Extrators. is there a particular brand that will fit without modifying. some ppl are saying that some fit, some dont

I have recently done the conversion, as has Bluesuzy, and a few others.
If you have any dramas, feel free to PM me, and I'll try to help you out.

I helped out xedent a fair bit with his, I think we might have started at the same time.

Hey xedent :helloo: Is that thing of yours going yet??? :P

Hehe, hurry up then :D

dp87, as Stockman mentioned you will not need a VL pump. It will be much easier, and cheaper, to bolt a Vitara fuel pump straight into your tank. The Coily tanks already have a swirl pot, so they are good for EFI pumps. You will need to replace rubber fuel hoses with high pressure hoses, also fit a HP fuel filter.

Because of your 2 inch bodylift, you will probably run into problems with the thermostat housing. I have a 1 inch BL and the housing only just clears the heater hoses on the firewall. If you want to keep the BL, you may have to make up some custom piping.

Just to clarify, you get the vitara pump and put it in your coily tank as it has the swirl pot and everything in it etc

in the photo above, is that the coily tank on the right? is that circular thing with screws the swirl pot?

Ok so i need to get a vitara efi fuel pump and a vitara speedo fot the VSS.

i read somewhere that still need to use the baleno tacho. the sierra tacho wont work with the coil packs.

thanks stockman

Coily tank is on the left  The extra round thing is the vitara fuel pump.
