Hello out there
Will a H25A engine fit into a Vitara instead of a H20A ?
The block is the same isnt it ?
What about the clutch ?
Injection ?

Polar_Bear has a SV620 that is running the H25a with a 4 speed auto, not sure about the manual. Yeah it's EFI, I think his is running the inlet manifold etc off the H20a.
I'll try & find some pics of his engine bay.

Yes even the H27 fits man or auto. you can use the H25a manifold but you need to use the throttle body and isc motor from the H20 with a few small mods.
You can not use the H27 manifold as the Iac is part of the throttle body assy.
Only problem Ive seen with the 2.5 in a man is dont leave it in 5th to tow or heavy loads. It pulls 5th like a train but the gearbox doesn't stand up very well

You will need to modify the IAC back to the H20 one and better to try fit the Throttle body from the H20 as im not sure what the differences are between the tps and air flow meter but I have done this before just makes the porting a tad bigger. I carn't remember if i used the H20 injectore or not on the last one I did, might want to look into it or just try and see what happens.
Clutches dont seem to be any problem at all but like i say Dont overload 5th gear, they wear the case hardening off 5th gear real quick if you do

whats the reason behind this?
i have a sv620 with a h25 in it (installed by others before i bought it) and the IAC is non standard...presumably the one off the orighinal h20. Have found a cheap one off a h25 and was wondering if that would fit.

If you use the H25a manifold the IAC is of a different resistance and works in a completly different way.If you pull the both apart it is obvious. The hole spacing for the 2 IACs are different only need to slot the holes on the H20 IAC and bolts straight on to the manifold as the ports are in the same position for the motor to vent.

hey im thinking of doing this conversion, sounds like itll be pretty straight forward.. do you need to get in engineered or a mod plate or anything?
so the bell housing and everything is exactly the same? so should be able to just swap the long block and use all the h20s accesories?? what about injectors do i need to run the h25a injectors?
thanks guys. also roughly how much does a h25a go for?

Since i am doing this conversion at the moment i thought i would revive this thread
Once i have the h25a here ready to go in, what mechanical things would others recommend to maintain reliability? Should i put a new timing chain on, replace water pump etc things like that? Also i am planning on having both motors side by side and swapping everything on current h20a to the h25a. Any exceptions?
Cheers. Once i complete this i will write up a how to so all the info i can get would be great.
