have you thought about putting a turbo on the 1.3? my last car was turbo'd, i rebuilt (broken piston, stuffed rings) it with a kit from repco. cost me $400 with pistons, rings, bearings and every thing else you need.
went great, turned 33's with std gearing and i could sit on 110, 120 k's no worrys.

yeah i would love to do this but the new laws in Qld for provisional licence holders cant drive a turbo petrol.. So i could drive it for the year i got my learners then not for another 3 years after that. Also i have heard that the 1.3 EFI out of the jimny runs great with a turbo and i think that is a great option as the 1.3 is very smooth and they are fairly new engines

then go the 1.3 and slowly get bits for the turbo conversion. i have heard you could even put a 1.6 crank in for more toqure but have never done it.
i've been reading about a 13b rotary engine in sierra as well and they sound pretty good because they are light and make good power with plenty of toqure down low if you don't port the sh t out of them. if i could find one cheap i would be doing this and selling the piazza i have but i'm on a buget so its the piazza for me.

if i were to go rotary i would go for the 13b twin turbo set up from the Rx-7 series 8. They run hard and would fly in a sierra

My mate has a g13bb jimny engine, bolt in apart from the loom & computer which is pretty easy anyway. from what i remember you gotta get the older G series jimny Donks, not the m series donks. I think it is the same 1.3l efi engine that was used in sierra's (that auz didnt get) in other countrys.
best thing was he didnt have to engineer it, just had to do an partial blueslip

just be aware the jimny g13bb was not known for its reliabilaty. in stock form, on a stock car they suffered things like chopped keyways, dropping valves, and i've seen a couple shear the end off the crank. now before you go 'oh what would you know', well i owned a jimny for many years, the best thing i did was get rid if it. ring around suzuki wreckers and they will tell you they can't get thier hands on enough of these motors because they fall appart. have a think.
the m series motor is so much better, and more reliable. but if you want to go for great grunt and great reliabilaty go the 1.6. but things will only be as good as the installation, don't just slapp it in, do it properly and you'll have a great reliable conversion.

that is the problem something like the g13bb is like what i need as they can drop right in where as the 1.6 i would probably have to pay for someone to do it right which would cost more then the car

theres plenty of info out there on fitting a 1.6 to a sierra, the EFI ones arent any different
you can even buy a kit of the gearbox adapter and engine mounts to make it easier, then you jsut need to wire and plumb, which will be the same as the G13BB

is it just the head that is the difference between the EFI and carby? where can you get the engine mounts?

the block is the same AS FAR AS MOUNTING IS CONCERNED
all the suzi shops sell the kit, or look here and see what at least 2 members have written in detail about their conversions

my set up was just G13A engine (stock pistions and every thing else) home made exhaust manifold that had a turbo off a 2.8 ltr diesel rodeo engine and 3" dump pipe into a commodore cat then 2" system. air to air intercooler in the front then a xf throttle body ( single point and same bolt patten as a webber) no name elec pump and a microtech mt4 i think to run it all. it run 8 psi max.
i got the car with everything on the engine but it was set up crap.
just for a largh one day i put std wheels on it and took it out for a drive. i scared the crap out of some ricers and me it did in some skylines and a 200 sx.
it was great, pulled all the way to 6000 (thats as much as the turbo would give then it ran out of air) and i always backed off at about 100k's and gave them a wave as the over took me.
was a great set up with the seirra drivetrain and i would be using it again if the car i'm fixing now was a 1.3 to start with

so generally if im using it for on road and offroad, (more onroad obviously and daily trips up the mountains) what would be the better option, the g13ba gti motor, or vit 1.6 efi? in standard form?
