Hello Fellow Slightly Deranged Auszookers



My Blue Bits ie: Calmini Vitara 3" Lift kit is on its way as of today

I am wondering if anyone has any Hint's / Tip's or Tricks they would like to share with me... as We all know that the Destructions always have little bits that just don't make sense... so rather than ripping hair out i would like to avoid this entire process and make it as smoooth as possible...


im thinking 3 little fonzies...

read the instructions & when they talk of the passenger side... they really mean the drivers side.

use lots of molly grease on the bushes.

measure the distance from the ground to the pinion flange on the rear & set the heim joint up to get the same measurement.

Yep, measure the bush's, so I can get replacements without me removing mine and finding out for myself

The last box in my kit arrived yesterday. Really happy with how quickly it turned up. Although im about to go on holidays to QLD so cant install it for almost 2 weekends. Also i didnt pay any kind of import taxs or GST.

Like atari said use heaps of grease on the bushes or you will have a squeaky car

cheers for the advice dude's, will get a 4L Tub of molly grease half for the car... half for ... other uses

Don't forget to grind the bottom of the diff housing so it clears the cross member.

And I would get rid of the rear shock brakets or they will damage the shocks.

I've never had an issue with the lower rear shock mounts, what happend to yours?

They were denting the back of the shocks.

I first started to hammer the original shock points out and then grind down so they would clear but would still hit.

i'll definitly keep my eye on the rear shock mounts then and i'll let you know if mine hit :S seems a bit odd though

quick question. Whats the part number the front struts have on them? Trying to find out what manufacturer calmini use for their kits and then see if i can get measurements.

They're standard length struts

Standard length. thats funny. Calmini kits are a 2-3 inch lift. A stock strut has limited travel so why use it? . 160mm of travel for a stock strut. A donaldson strut is the same body and compressed length as a stocker but have 200mm of travel. wouldnt a donaldson strut suit the kit better?

Yep if you go back through alot calmini talk you'll see that the strut is standard length. Not sure why, but i'd say its coz they have no options over there apart from OME and theyre dear.
Ive got a pair of dobinsons to go in the front next week once i get my diff back, they'll be goin in.
Theyre longer and cost $145 each.

Otherwise fitting the kit is pretty straightforward once you get over the trepidation of undoing everything in the front end! Allow a few hours, and pre-book a wheel alignment/camber correction straight afterwards. You will also need a set of camber bolts ($70ish from Pedders.) Rear is a PoP, hour or so should do it.

Camber bolts are not need, they have a tool/dill bit to elongate the bolt holes.

Should I Be looking at Extended Brakelines for the front seeing as im already running a 2" Bodylift???

Ahh pretty much all of them

But mainly the control arm and A arm bush's

As for the brake lines, I think mine are still the standard ones, I havn't looked but I'm sure they kink when the wheels are on full lock. So yes getting new brake lines will be good.
