Gday all -

Today I went to bolt in my new Tcase, and found that it is substantially different to the one in my truck...

See pics below - the dirty one on the left is my buggered one, the cleaner one is the replacement. The new one fits a mates truck, so it must be right for the model, his being a '91. Mine is a '92, so it should fit too.

Is mine a narrow track case or something?
The long mount is different too, as is the smaller one on the drivers side.

I need to know exactly what the case I have is, so I can get a working one tomorrow with some luck...

the clean one is the correct one for your car though.

yeh agreed,i owned a coily for 3 days once but im sure while i was under it seeing if a normal zuk case would fit,mine looked like that...anyone else.

geez the gearing must of been really ghey with that case???the coily i had was bad??

Your old one is defiantly looks to be a coily case. If you're running the standard WT 3.7 diffs, you gearing would really suck arse.

Do yourself a favour and don't even attempt to replace it with the same and get all the bits and pieces you need to get your new case in (what yours should have originally anyway). The coily case is the highest geared Sierra case around, it's not so bad in a coily as they have 3.9 diffs which brings the overall gearing back similar to that of a WT, but combine that with the higher 3.7 diffs in a WT and it could only be a nightmare.

As for gearing, it isn't too bad. Low is low enough for most modest offroading, and I can cruise at about 100 @ 4k...

Can someone tell me if the normal WT bracket would mean the Tcase is mounted a bit further back than with this one? When I put the new case into place, the front shaft was a tad too long, and the rear was a bit too short. Does the bracket I have seem like it has moved the case further fowards than a normal WT case?

i know when you swap from a coily case to normal case in a coily you have to chase up a jack shaft from the box to case off a WT,so im guessing you have a coily jackshaft and you need a 92ish model one to suit your new case and it'll be all sweet or get yours cut down at a machine shop possibly to the shorter length????????????????????????then you'll be good to go with a bit better gearing

Anyone know how long a coily jack shaft is, so I can confirm that mine is one?

I'll head to my wreckers tomorrow and try to get everything to return it to a standard WT...

Why would anyone put in a coily case? Is there any advantage?

only if they had a crawler case in it that they didn't want to sell with the car and happened to have a coily case lying around!

its pretty much safe to say you def. have the coily shaft if it was too long mate....Sux if they did take out a good set of gears on ya though
