Hi All,

I have a SJ80 1997 coil sprung siera hard top with 2' Body and Suspension Lift, running 30" Muddies.

Need same help with same low range gear reduction. I have 2 questions-

1. Am I right in saying you can not replace the diff centers back to normal gearing with the standard coily diffs.

2. Could some one please explain to me the easiest way to reduce low range in the transfer case, I know you can not get a kit for a standard coily case, so what options have i got.

I just want to crawl real slow!

can any one please help.

You need to find a WT transfer and fit it with reduction gears.

I think you can replace diffs with WT too but unsure on what else needs to be changed/modified.

as scrawnc said, just get yourself a transfer case out of a wt, and why would you want wt diff ratio? they are 3.7, coilys have 3.9, so if slower is what you want, thats the go

1. The coily front centre is reverse cut because of the high pinion, therefore you can't fit the same gears you would if you had a leaf Sierra. I don't know where you would get different ratio front gears for a coily.

2. Easiest way would be to fit reduction gears in a coily is to fit a WT transfer case with reduction gears installed. You will need a WT jackshaft to match (coily jackshaft is a different length). You will need nuts for the flange bolts on the case if it doesn't come with them (coily flanges are tapped, instead of a bolt and nut arrangement). Plug and play and enjoy 3.9 diffs and reduction gears!

With 30" tyres and 3.9 diffs, even 4.1:1 low range is going to be quite slow.

If you want a really good crawl just get 6.5 gears. I have 30's on a coily with 6.5's and it is absolutely fantastic. Look at lowrange offroad for gears, do a complete rebuild when you out the gears in(bearings, seals) also, get yourself an upgraded output shaft.

As said before, it is a bolt in job. Use WT tfer mounts also

Is the best place to find a case is to try the wreckers around?

When you say wide track is that a 88 on and is that out of a 1l or 1.3l.

Sorry about my lack of knowledge, I am a coily man and have not had much to do with the leafys.

1.3 wide track if you want to choose your gearing. Should be cheaper too.

89 onwards 1.3L are all WT's

Yes, but you would need to change the flanges to WT to suit the coily drive shafts. You would need the 1ltr case with the 4wd switch also.
