G'Day,

My camber is out and my mechanic and I are curious to know what the camber should be at with this lift kit installed, and how and what should be done/used to adjust it properly. Tyre wear seems normal, just need help with adjustments etc.. :(

What should be done? My steering is also out, pulls left, not too severely but enough to give me the shits and have to hold it straight on the roads. caster correction bushes and camber pins necessary or?? Should I buy a steering stabilizer truss off Calmini ? Let me know what your thoughts are.

My mechanic says he's never seen or heard of Calmini before...

Cheers,
Ryan

Yesterday I bought some Dobinsons 45mm raised struts for $260 :p

And yep, you'd need camber bolts.

BS and offset is different from rim to rim.

Offset is a Measured value. Therefore on a 7" Rim. for a 3.25" Backspace it would be -19 Offset. ( not -21 I just double checked myself ) On ALL Rim's Regardless of the manufacture

Yes, but on an 8" rim, 3.25" BS will be a much larger negative offset.

The rims I have are 15x7 f100 rims. So, are camber pins the same as camber bolts? And yeah I'll go for OME struts in the front and commy shocks in the rear, eventually upgrade to OME rears too. :) And 31" KM2s or KL71s.

My mechanic was stressing and saying to contact Calmini and ask them a few questions etc, he thinks the kit is major overkill.. The front springs are not running straight up and down when seated on level ground, they convex out I said because it's IFS.. At the moment i'm also running the Calmini front struts, They too short for the lift kit?

Thanks heaps fellas, keep up the good work :D

So standard aligning tools are used and camber bolts and castor correction bushes are needed.

Yes, the front struts are shit, get something else. Mine top out too and I've already blown 1 pair out.

As for camber pins, go with whatever he suggest.
Is it possible to adjust castor on an IFS vehicle?? (I'm yet to come across it)

dunno about stock ifs vehicles,
but castor adjustment is possible,
by rotating an after market offset bush to desired position.
Crude but works.

rear A-arm bush,
also swings wheel out and forward slightly,
an advantage for bigger tyres.

So is there anything that is any good in the calmin kit.
Sounds like everything in the kit is crap.
The point of the arms is to correct camber wheel track and to seat the coils flat at ride hight with the lift. From what ur saying it isn't doing any of that. Sound like the kit is a wast of time and money.
Another way to adjust the caster is to mod the strut spacer . Cut it in half and move it back and weld it back together . Camber can also be corrected by moving it in and out as well

Well i can say i dont have and dont need camber bolts in mine! And i know others dont also.
I dont understand why some of you do, take you car of the jack and stands with wheels on get underneath and loosen your bottom two strut bolts then tighten them up again.
Its not a waste of money, only thing thats crap in my book is the shocks and struts.

Gotbarwork, maybe you should make a kit for us like that abortion under you car 8O

Every one keeps having a go at my coil spacers yet they are passed by a engineer. My stock coils sit nice and straight and don't bow way out like my old lifted coils did.No one has a go at people running Polly spacers on the rear of vits where they can fall out under flex
Ps when u loosen the strut bolts roll it back a bit because the wheels will want to move out a bit

GBW... i always thought Athol was a respected engineer, but after seeing what he approved on your Vitara has me thinking he'll approve almost any sort of mod regardless.
