So ive been searching around for an answer but cant find what im after. I am going to get some custom front springs made for my coily. And i want to know what is better between progressive and linear, flex, ride quality ect.
Currently I have a set of cobra lifted springs which have always been far too stiff and now after adding winch, bull bars ect the front is hardly lifted.
I use it for mainly onroad but do a bit of playing in sand dunes and bashing round the forest.
What should I go for?
Cheers, Kent

Progressive rate coils are a minefield for spring design and really rely on very, very accurate vehicle parameters to make them work. If you are even a tiny bit off, you might find the car wobbling about in the transition between the softer rate and the firmer rate.
Additionally, i'd suggest a coil sierra, especially if you are aiming for some lift, doesn't have enough total travel to really exploit progressive rate springs. I think the car would will end up too tall if the proressive rate zone of the spring is to be functional.
I'd do the calcs on fixed rate.
Just my 2C.
(I know some professional suspension guys that played around with progressive springs on 'cruisers and gave up on them because they couldn't get the right result)
Steve.
