hey guys,
i may be aquiring a vitara estate wagon 1.6 very soon and need answers on these few questions, ive been searchin for ages and this is a re-cap:

1. sump with putting a 1.3 sump on the 1.6, can any one give me details and photos?

2. i will be also runnin a petroworks adaptor kit which comes with engine mounts that "lowers?" the engine

3. what actually hits the bonnet to make us raise it?

4. how much does Killa Kustom Kables charge to do the wiring when i send them the wiring out of the vitara?

help would be much appreciated

Unless you have RUF, or SPOA, the 1.6 sump will get mashed by your diff, as its a fair bit deeper than the 1.3 sump...

The G16 has a longer stroke than the G13 block and the deck height of the block is 15mm taller. The air inlet pipe (on a G16B), or the Carby Hat on a G16A just touch the bonnet. Not enough to stop you from closing the bonnet, but enough to make irritating noises and wear away paint. Fouling bodywork CAN be a reason for an Engineer to fail an engine conversion.

I don't think just RUF by itself is enough to get away with a vitara sump. I reckon some pretty big bumpstop spacers would also be requried.

I've only seen SPOA cars get away with a Vit sump.

PS - whilst I'm sure Killa Kustom Kables are better at looms than they are spelling, there's really no need to pay someone to do this work. Vitaras use pretty basic EFI wiring, colour codes are consistent between Sierra and Vitara, and the only "tricky" bit is adding the VSS to the sierra dash and hooking up the check engine light on the stock cluster. These aren't hard jobs to do at all. If you have the problem solving skills to contemplate an engine swap, you can contemplate the wiring.

I've done a few EFI looms (Baleno, Cappucino, 660 Jimny, Vitara) in about a day, frequently without even looking at a wiring diagram. Lift the engine loom out of the vitara in one hit, provide the correct ignition +ve, constant +ve and ground to the engine loom, run the wires to the fuel pump, and identifiy the VSS and check engine wires and run them to the dash.

There's not much more to it than that.

If you wire it yourself, you'll massively demystify EFI and you'll feel super confident driving it in the bush knowing exactly how it's set up.

I was under the impression that a full RUF would move the diff sufficiently to prevent the sump issues, I may however be mistaken...

I had full RUF with vit sump. It was fine. I even had the motor mounted low enough to clear the bonnet by 20-30mm without a body lift.

Still, full RUF, if you don't have it already, is a pretty complex and expensive way of avoiding changing sumps

i think the sierra sump is better anyway, it has the deeper oil pick up which would work better when 4x4ing and the car goes on all angles
