hey all ,
i seem to have lost my cold idle function, it used to idle at about 1200rpm then drop to 800rpm, but that all of a sudden stopped, and now i've had to wind the idle adjustment so it would idle back up to 800rpm down from about 600rpm.
also since i have it running, its a bitch to start cold, turns over for quite some time before it fires, once its warm, it starts instantly everytime, seems to have plenty of power, any ideas?

Is it EFi? Sounds like a vacuum leak to me

cold idle on a 16valve is set by a coolant operated bypass valve in teh manifold, its the thing in front of the throttle body with the air hose and coolant hose going into it

check its not jammed shut or the air hose isnt blocked

thanks Royce, i will have a look at that, i think someone else blew compressed air through his and that worked.
Could fuel pressure be the cause of slow cold starts? if i turn the ignition on, then off about 3 times, it doesnt take as long to fire.

yeah sounds like it, might be bleeding fuel off

i might have to investigate this. would it be worth throwing a fuel pressure gauge somewhere and having a look at it after its been turned off to see if the pressure drops?

yep, front of the fuel rail has a bung you might be able to use

though I doubt any of them hold pressure for any amount of time, you might be getting air come back in as it drains away

Check your fuel pressure regulator too. Those are known to be a weak spot here in the states.
