hey guys
put a rear main seal on today for a g16a but i think i may have pushed it to far.
so my question is, is this ok or do i need to put it in again (i know i will need another seal)

dose it matter how far in it is? i havnt put oil in yet so i dont know

yea danm alright. im tryin to finish the conversion brfore the weekend and its gonna take at least monday for a new one. is there any way to get them out without damaging it?

Yep. Seal up the entire motor and pump it full of grease. :wink:

Grease. But please don't do it :lol:

A common way to dislodge something you don't want to damage is to force grease in behind it. It works like a hydraulic press.

Remove the seal housing, 5 bolts on the side 2 on the sump side pry off the housing push seal out using a plastic drift or something soft if your going to reuse seal check for wear check the diagonal groves on the inside of the seal, if gone seal is worn and check to make sure seal is still soft not hard push seal in make sure its even and flush with housing. Use non corrosive sealant to seal up the housing and bolt up and make sure no shit falls into the sump.

crank shaft or what ever im still getting used to terminology, ok all done.
now clutch is on tomorrow ill pull can onto grass clean the crap out of engine bay and stick the new engine in.
