a mate is going efi in his sierra and i may in the future. but lately ive seen a shortage on coily and swb vit tanks, so has anyone looked into efi tanks from donor cars? ive owned a datsun 1200 ute with a ca18det with external pumps and didn't like how noisey it was! now with some mods an r31 tank fitted very easy and was a lot quieter. surely there is a car's efi tank out there that will fit with some mods,maybe some one has come across a tank that might fit? or they think may fit? post up some car makes that you think may be close and ill go down to the wreckers and do some measureing after easter. cheers wayne

I actually think CA18zook has some sort of datto tank in his SJ51 with the in tank pump. Not sure if it was from a Skyline or Silvia, but was something of that kind. Maybe try sending him a PM.

Take a tape measure to the wrecker's, if you have or can use a welder, make it fit....

ive thought a lot about doing a drop in swirl pot and efi pump on the sierra tank but really dont want to weld a fuel tank (this will be a last option)

What model zook? 90's EFI jackaroo tanks fit VERY well under a sierra ute tray. 85L

Showing my ignorance, how are efi tanks different?

They have a large bolted flange on the top that allows a high pressure electric fuel pump to be dropped into the tank, and a "swirl pot" inside the tank that the pumps sits in that holds fuel to stop the pump running dry.

Coil sierras were sold in most other markets as EFI, so they already have the swirl pot and large bolted flange, and an EFI vitara pump arrangement just bolts straight in.

Has any one tried to fit a tank out of an ignus yet there small and square like a standard sj tank, havent got one out of a car to measure yet, but surley recon they come close

Can you grab the L x W x H of your tank?
Probably won't fit my tray with all the junk I've got under there, but worth checking before I get a custom one fabbed up.

Yeah. Mine takes up ALL the space behind the shocks through to rear crossmember. Sits about 200mm above chassi rail and maybe 50 below, and runs the full width in between the rails. Misses by about 30-40mm.

the jackaroo tank sounds good for my ute but ill be looking for my mate as well hes got a swb w/t, looks like the ignus is a first measure hopefully i can find something easy to make fit that is still readily available oh and cheers for your input guys any other thoughts?

I put an ET pulsar fuel pump with custom swirl pot in my standard tank. Just drill a hole with a holesaw. 1 and a half year later and no problems..

after a quick look today looks like ill be doing a drop in swirl pot and vit pump and welding it in.
