Gday Mate,
This is a place for people to sell stuff, take this to suzi talk, the top forum.
Detroit and air lockers are miles apart. Air is the ultimate, you are the one who decides when it is engaged, or not, detroit is another auto, it decides when it will do its business, no input from you.
Why do you want to modify before you know the car, and are well into 4wding, and so, know where the car is lacking.
There are many modifications out there, but it depends on what sort of wheeling you are into. Sand, mud, rocks, deep gullys etc, all need a bit of different stuff to the others.
Go out, wheel, preff with others so that you can learn from watching, find out what it is you want to drive, and see where the lil girl is lacking, then start designing your mods.
Def air lockers over anything else, and prob one of your first mods being in Vic.

i beg to diff,
u can steer with a detroit when its locked, you have less chance of breaking things, and there also stronger,
plus no airlines to get caught on

The only way it will allow you to steer easier is if it momuntarily unlocks or ratchets....which only happens off throttle, and also releases drive to one wheel, meaning traction is reduced you have less chance of breaking things HOW? If not the same risk I would suggest more. The constant ratcheting of the locker shock loads components ina way that airlockers do not.and there also stronger, REALLY? The fucking things wear out crosspins and springs pretty regularly.plus no airlines to get caught on This I agree with.

if detroits, or auto lockers in general were better than airs, then all the comp trucks would be using auto lockers instead of ARBs. I would say 99% of the high end comp trucks here use, arb???

Cause semi-unpredictable locking action allows you to 'drift' better around wet WA roads/roundabouts
Tonk-A-Tara:
SuziBlu has it pretty much covered, the air is user controlled 100%

This afaik is the result of the locker... My rear had issues disengaging and caused all sorts of issues driving.. The bolts were well and truly done up and coverd in loctite. Then this happend.

because u dont feel the locker in the front there for u can steer on the rocks easyer .. and they can offered it .. im putting auto locker in the front with nice bigass PS box and Pump il let u know how i go .. also alot of people in the usa are running mini spools rear and front... it all comes down to price .. at the end of the day they all do the same thing .. just ease of use is a issue with auto locker in front ..

It doesnt matter what locker you have in the front, once its locked you will not be able to steer properly due to the simple fact that the wheels cant spin at different speed (EG be a DIFF)
Therefore anything that you can choose to turn off/on like airlockers will be far far better than detroits, lockwrongs, etc because the user can have control as to what they want to happen and when.
Ive had both, never going back to lockrights unless it will be a offroad only cheap toy that I know will never do over 40klm!!!!!

Lol unlock your front hubs for every turn you have to do offroad?? That would just get super annoying at the end of the day. Work on your guns WTF?? Again that mite help you turn the bloody steering wheel but it still wont help your turning radius at full lock due to the fact that is no wheel speed difference between inner and outer wheels on the front end....

so 2 bad points for autolocker
point 1 bad turning radius well cant really fix this
point 2 hard to turn steering wheel well this can be fixxed ...
2 bad point for air locker ...
point 1 the air lines can get caught ..or leak ...
point 2 .. i think i would get sick of turning them on and off when i need them... and are 3 times the price of a auto locker

point 2 hard to turn steering wheel well this can be fixxed ... - even with power steering its more annoying than you think
2 bad point for air locker ...
point 1 the air lines can get caught ..or leak ... - just tuck the air line up high and out of the way. how often do you see someone ripping off an air locker line??
point 2 .. i think i would get sick of turning them on and off when i need them - flicking a switch uses bugger all energy... does that mean you can't be bothered flicking your head lights on when it gets dark?
... and are 3 times the price of a auto locker - as they say, a poor man pays twice

What do you do when you walk into a dark room?......You turn on the light switch.
What do you do when you are finished in said room?......You turn it off.
Or did you get sick of using a simple switch a long time ago and now you just fumble around in the dark?

#1, maintenance, simple
#2, its a switch, you push it down, its not that hard, when you want to disengage, flip it up, even Einstein was able to grasp that
I would never use an auto again, they totally suk IMO, you have no control, they engage at will, so if you are out playing, and loving the open diff, as I do all the time, with an auto locker, no more play. Mine used to engage on the black top, that was fukd, hate the useless things.

It's funny because I have one
... I don't mind them though, but I would only ever have one in the rear diff.

If you buy ARBs from arb, your looking at alot of coin.
If you buy them from lowrange your looking at a lot less coin.
yes they are double the price doing it like this. but they are more than double the locker. Plus, where is the fun in driving locked all the time. ??
where is the talent and driving style gone when every thing is point and shoot?
I can tell you with a locker in the front that you cannot turn off your line choice and the ability to actually get the car on the line will be 1000x worse than some one who drives unlocked or can unlock their locker.
