i think they are a copy of the warn and toyota were doing these as an aftermarket accessory on thier vehicles (dunno if they still do)
as long as it hasn't been drowned and left full of water it should be ok
run it in and out a few times to see how smooth it is and free spool it out if it spools out easy it should be ok but if it groans and carries on with no load on it then dont get it unless you can spend a bit of time on it pulling it apart and cleaning and regreasing it
in the control box will be 4 solenoids check these for corrosion and crap because if they dont work the winch wont or it will run a lot slower under load as there will be a voltage drop

had one, they are crap and nothing like a copy of a warn. just look at what secures the gearbox housing to the drum end plate. much rather a chinese warn copy.
