Hey guys a quick question, after i got home from our little holiday i was checking all the fluids to make sure nothing was leaking or has fallen out and i came across this wire that looks like its been cut.

And this is on the left hand side of the plug

It looks to me like its been cut and a lug has been put on it to the right hand side in the first picture. Any idea what it would be and if its a major problem?

Cheers :)

that is the earth supl. to your idle solenoid should be ok but make shure the carb is earth good or you may burn the accel. cable
you can test the wire on the other end for continuity to earth and repair to get it back to stok

Any idea why it would have been cut in the first place? Is there any advantage of it not being connected?

the pins on that plug are probably dodgy or the earth further down was causing trouble

the only advantage to it not being connected is it not idling, good theft protection :)

The wire is earthed because more than likley there is a problem with the emmision control circuit.
All those switches on the gearbox and the one on the front of the carby go to an emmision controller, it in turn turns the idle solinoid on and off through the earth circuit during different conditions of driving.
