Hi guys I currently own a Gen 1 4runner IFS with twin lockers and 31's............. Now the big question is what are the sierra WT's like for cost of parts and mods??

The reason I ask is because I am over Toyota parts pricing!, for EG for a reconditioned gearbox exchange cost is $900!!, and a motor 2L is about $1000+ for a secondhand one with low KM. BTW my 4runner has 400,00 on the clock!

And I work in a warehouse, so I only get $416 a week including pension... so

So could I have a few ideas of parts and running costs? oil ect??

I am new to petrol's and zooks so bear with me!

Theu are ver cheap to own, maintain and modify.

I rebuilt a sierra engine for 700 ... That was new pistons, rings, bearings, deck and hone the block, head tested amd clean, timing belt, all seals/gaskets and waterpump.

Gearbox can be had for $150 and up
Transfers cases are from around $100 up
both these would be 2nd hand..

Generaly everything is cheap as to either buy new or 2nd hand.

They dont use any special oil or other fluid, so that is as expensive as you want to make it.

By far the best car ever to own.. And ever to be made..

Can learn alot on them from general maintaining of it through to more indepth things like engine rebuilds and the like.

Thanks for that mate! :), looks like it will be possible to own one for a while and it won't break the bank!

I build, run and modify my zook on nothing but a disability pension,
and a bit of attitude. :)
As long as you are obsessed/committed enough :)

And also parts are lighter, can pick up a Sierra gear box in one hand.
Quite an advantage when the body gets a bit less younger ;)

The reason I got a sierra, with a young family and limited income is a good option. Plus a small car makes for soo many more lines and general fun in the bush.

If I have anything negative to say about my sierra it would be that they have their quirks. sometimes the idle jet blocks, sometimes they get the wobbles, or the fan belt needs tightening but it has never once left me on the side of the road walking. all the info you could ever want about fixing it can be found here and if you work on it your self its cheap as to own
