I need to finally bite the bullet and do some BStop extensions. I've got the steel just need an idea of length. I've got 2 inch OME rears all round running 30 inch tyres. I'm running the usual commo shocks up front. At the moment the 30s are just eating the arches on compression but that will be sorted with a BL. I'm more worried about bottoming the shocks out and W'ing the springs I think the shocks are already stuffed from this.. Is there a rule of thumb for determining length? Something like running a string line between both spring eyes to determine the point where the spring goes into negative arch?

you arent going to kill the srings by the flexing past flat and onto the stock bumpstop

measure the compressed length of your shocks, work out what the distance is between the shock mounts fully compressed and add about 15mm, the difference of the 2 is your spacer size

think i said this somewhere else, 50-75mm for the front, and no more than 150 at the back EMPTY. if you can get it to sit at about 100 and no less than 80mm with a load you should be doing ok. springs are fine compressing up to 25% from thier flat state. leave an extra 25mm in shock compression over the bumpstop to compensate for a hard hit. hope this helps.

Well I finally got round to ramping it and working out some lengths. I came up with about 10-15mm. I ended up making them up at 35mm to allow for compression of the bump stop and so I can run 31s and possibly lose the body lift. Thing is I tested them out by running the driver's side up the retaining wall at home. When I go up the actual step part you feel the bump stop hit. Its not a hard hit but I'm going up pretty slow. I'm worried off road its going to slam the bump stop. Is this just a normal thing that I'll get used to? It doesn't bottom out at all on road. I'm thinking of dropping them back to 25mm.

Actually that's something I didn't check. I'd easy still have 50-75 with the bump stops in I think. Maybe I've got my springs too soft. Might try chucking a leaf back in if I am sitting at that height in the front.

i went 25mm with the front shocks and thy are fine. put another leaf back in if you are touching them driving on the road, they don't touch at all in normal driving on my car. its a ruf but the springs are ment to be softer than front springs

just redrill your spring pads and move your diff forward to fit 31's you don't need a body lift.

Wish it was that easy :) I'm running vit power steering and there is no more room for the diff to go forward without the pitman mangling the tie rod further. I'm running half RUF too which I think has moved the diff forward anyway. The clearance problem isn't the back of the arch. My issues are with the tyre eating the stock flares at full lock. I guess I could raise the flares but I would have thought that was a fair bit of work.
