Does anyone run there spare wheel on the roof of their Sierra?

I already have racks and thought I could pop a basket on to carry my spare 31".

It is strong enough? I'm guessing that the tintop rear door will be like the softtop and not like the weight of a 31?

It's a fair weight up high, with only the roof rail's holding it..

It will be fine up there.

Just a pain to get to, higher centre of gravity etc.

I occasionally put mine on the roof, usually because I'm carrying long heavy items that weigh too much for my racks. Works okay. As long as you keep in mind you've got an extra 15+ kilos at the highest point on your centre of gravity, shouldn't be a problem.

Of course, I haven't got a tintop sierra, so it could be completely different, but I doubt it would be THAT much different.

You should shorten your axles by a few inches too, while you're at it it.

Its a 31 right? WTF are you putting that on your bonnet for? Spitting on a sierra bonnet leaves a dent! The weight of a 31 almost garantees damage!

I'm only joking. It's going in the back. I don't want to compromise the tin work.
