Regardless, how would caster cause death wobbles without an underlying issue anyway? I thought caster only aided in the vehicle tracking straight and dynamic camber for cornering.

I got the wobbles after fitting power steer, back then there wasnt a real lot on it so nobody really had any idea and assumed I was talking about a wheel out of balance wobble.
I had a full workshop at my disposal so did everything, balanced wheels, machined discs, replaced bushes, stiffer-softer springs, different spring heights, a million different wheel alignment combos (I literally had the damn thing on the alignment rack 20 times) this is how I came to learn you cant adjust castor by altering the arch of a spring, I took the things out and rebent em while it was still hooked up to teh aligner!
Only thing that fixed it was a calmini damper, all the gurus reckon a damper is a band aid, tell me where I went wrong and what I should of done or bash your opinion up your jacksie.

Thats my understanding too. Extended shackles or repositioning diff on leaves so as to alter static castor would probably on exacerbate a pre-existing issue. I doubt that alone would cause the wobbles.

Didn't read what I Typed. And cammo doesn't have leaves
Lol u guys are confusing! 30 deg from vertical so 60 deg from horizontal yea?
With 70mm shackle:
Effective shackle height: 60mm
Change in castor from vertical shackle: 1.2Deg
Stock - castor change: 1.3Deg overall castor

so by fitting very poorly made lifted springs you could lose 1.3 degrees in castor, glad we cleared that up

Correction you loose 1.2Deg castor giving you overall 1.3Deg
Now what was the problem again?

Another way of looking at it is, you lose nearly 50% of your castor.

Quote: making sure the bearings are set by the manual, not just a bit of a feel and a she'll be right
This right there solves a lot of death wobble on our samurai's because they are nearly 20 yrs old and worn.
Resetting the king pin preload can stop a ton of wobbles, as can snugging up the wheel bearings. IMHO resetting king pin preload should be a regular maintenance item. as the king pins bed in and wear, they sink a little in their races, or the races, this causes a loose knuckle, and contributes to death wobble.
front wheel bearings need the same adjustment.
