Hey guys I about to buy a new head for my 1.3l Sierra was just wondering if there's anyone on hear who can help me do it for cheap or if they no of a cheap place to get it done in Perth Because I got quoted 800 bucks to put it in and the head alone is 320. So yer if there's someone u no who can do far better that 1100 plz let us no thanks guys

If you want someone to walk you through it I'll give ya a hand for a lot less than $800 and go through it with you so next time you can do it yourself...

How many kms it done,,,,, Suzuki engines traditionaly smoke like a train if you dont replace the rings at the same time if they are on the old side. I wont do a head on a 1300 without rings if the kms are over 150000, been caught out too many times though sometimes you get lucky.

I have space in the driveway and I have basic tools like spammers and socket sets and stuff is there special tools I need ? And how much will it cost I'll order all the gaskets soon

I assume its just a case of putting the head back on, is that all it is?
As well as gaskets I'd recommend changing the water pump, timing belt and fan belt whilst its alll apart...

Na I took the rocker cover off that's it but because I didn't no how to set the timing of the belt at the front engin and I herd if that's wrong valves will meet piston so yer I changed my alternator belt and fan belt like a month ago but I do needa change I think it's called the timing belt ? And thanks heaps mate for helping me out ure a tru champ

If the fan belt is new then thats ok...
Purely for the fact its a pain in the ass to get it all apart, whilst the timing cover is off I'd be putting a timing belt and water pump in there...
The only drama is, I'm working every day between now and the 20th. Do you need it done sooner than that?
So its old head off, new head on... I assume the new head is fully assembled and ready to go?

I can wait till the 20th if IRS Easyer on u mate and wen u say fully assembled what dose that mean I'm gonna buy the new head from suzistore in midland next week so dose that mean it will be ready to put on or do I have to do something to it ?

For the quoted price of $320 I'd assume it's a bare head, hence my earlier comment about being a reasonable price all up.

I've just done a head swap on mine. Make sure you have a Torque wrench for the head bolts(which on a G13 are reusable) and new gaskets for the head, intake and exhaust manifolds. while your at it, as Ben said, you may as well replace the belts, water pump and thermostat.
So long as you can remember where you've taken everything off from you'll be able to do it. The hardest part for me was re-setting the dizzy/timing.
Had mine changed in 4 hours which I thought was an ok effort.

I can help you fit a head but not so keen on rebuilding the head... Double check with suzistore what you are getting. Knowing their prices for $320 it probably is a bare head, you never get anything cheap from those guys... _________________ I want my old sig back

OMG. Why didn't you just buy a complete motor and have that fitted. There are a few places in Sydney (I know you aren't here) that do these sort of things from $1000-$1500 supply and fitted. That is the entire engine.
One place I know does recon motors for them too for about $2000 fitted.
So $800 for a head replacement is excessive. $500 is the most I'd pay for that.

There is nowhere in WA that will supply you a recon motor for $1000, let alone fit it too.... I'd be surprised if any motor you can get fitted in sydney for $1000 is recon either, probably a 300k engine that smokes all over the place... _________________ I want my old sig back
