Have searched and have a few questions.

Are all Jimny power steering boxes the same?

Lets say I purchsed a Jimny power steering box and then bought:

pump

power Steering pump bracket

Reservoir

Hose kit

Not too sure on the length of these hoses though as they'd be made for LHD Zooks.

Pulley

All I'd need to get would be the ribbed belt and just bolt the lot on?

I'm not wanting to move the front axle forward or anything, so would prefer the Jimny option, rather than the Vitara PS box and kit.

To my knowledge, but instead of buying all that stuff, just get the whole jim set up & new hose's..

you should be able to buy all the mounting brackets, hoses, pump, reservour together from the wreckers as a kit. All goes in no mods except to make up brackets for the reservour and plumbing, easy as, no mods to hoses. May need to modify the radiator supports as the steering box is larger and depending on the brackets, some clearance for the steering pump but the steering box will bolt on to the chassis without mods.

Then you just need to work out what belts you want to run as the jimny rums flat grooved belts and standard nt 1300s run v belts.
If you want to run flat belts you willl need to change the alternator and waterpump pulleys.

Once you do it you will never go back

Now to find a jimny power steering box, rang one joint wrecking Jimny's yesterday and they wanted a grand for the whole lot.

Just to clarify, are jimny power steering boxes all the same?

The only thing I can see the low range option is good for is the power steering belt is completely separate from the main belt and only runs from crank pulley to pump (they've told me the pump has belt adjustment on its mount) plus its much shinier than the standard offerings lol

A grand is too much, I'd shop around. $600-700 dollars should cover it.
Try getting the parts from a general wrecker, not specialising in 4x4

As far as I'm aware, they are but have been wrong before.

Yes the power steering belt is separate from the others but the crankshaft pullys are one piece and are either v belt (early 1300s ie NT or flat groove belts 1300 wt to current model jimnys. This will determine which way you go. I had a Engineer shop modify my pully to take both type of belts because I couldn't be stuffed sourcing pullys for the alternator and waterpump

The only difference in any of the Jimney Pwr steer boxes is where the hoses go into them. Some the high pressure goes into the drivers side and others closer to the radiator. Not sure what the change over year is but does not make any difference as they both fit into a sierra with only needing to mod the rad support in the exact same way.
If you are going to get the whole set up make sure its from a G13bb Jimny as it will bolt straight on unlike the M13 Jimny

I've picked up a Jimny power steering unit, supposedly off a 13BB version.

Had a quick look and it appears the pump bracket only aligns up with two holes on the block of the Sierra engine. Is this right?

I'm also missing the belt adjuster so will have to get one of those too.
