It's an old Thomas 8000lb electric. Has no clutch but the rest is good by the looks of it. Has a small drum too, which is a bit shit.

I was thinking of trying to get the clutch end for it and making a drum wide enough so the whole lot still fits between zook chassis rails.

Downside is it does weigh a shit-tonne, it's heavy and line speed is slow. Upside is mega pulling power due to LOW gearing. I reckon it'd even pull Johnno off his Sister. Also because it's worm drive, no brake to heat up, so good for dyneema etc.

idk about over east but my old man and i rebuilt a thomas whinch after speeking to the guys at a place called hydrolic hoist and whinch over here (i suggest chucking em a email with a pic) dad bought a warn and a thomas out of the quokka and took em in there. the bloke laughed at him when he said he wanted to keep the warn. alll the gears in the thomas are high grade steel (unlike warns partial aluminium) and unlike a warn they are rated without a snatch bloke. (all warn ratings are through a snatch bloke) and they also can do more than 1 line pull b4 they need to cool down like a warn...... there big and heavy and ugly but ull never break it. (that shop will also stock any parts u want.)

Mount it up under the zook somewhere with the drum pointing down, and put a guide on all four ends/sides of the zook so you can winch in any direction!

Might be a tad hard though if there's no free spool. Also if you get stuck you won't be able to get to the winch rope

How heavy is it?
