when i turn my ignition normaly my stereo will turn on aswell (as it should) but recently it has stopped doing this. i origionaly started that the stereo would run but as soon as u turned another electronic device on eg indictaors, or hit the brake pedel it would cut out. this is very annoying now its at the point u tunr the ignition on and if ur lucky the buttons might flash randomly a few times. the screen dosent even light up. but the indicators and stuff still run and the batterie will still have enough power to turn the engine over. it would origional fix when the engine was on. but now it will cut out (turn of completely) when the engine is on and an indicator or brake lights. the stereo has always cut out when u plug somthing in the cigeret lighter.

Try a new earth

Try adding dirty great big earth strap from the battery negative to the body.

My sierra was playing sily buggers, temp gauge going up when the lights on, lights dull, indicators would please themselves whether they would work or not, I added a big welding lead earth, bingo, no dramas.

I don't understand, but it worked.

nope no help. will check the earth on the deck tomoz though. thats the only thing thats playying up and the person that wired it in the first place looks a bit dodge. (wired just twisted together and shit) but i already fixed anytjing like that i could find

What did you use for your earth, where did you put it ?

i just used a bit of wire for a test. its about 10-15mm insulated copper wire with two eyes crimmed on. (dads old winch wire left over piece) bout half a meter long. tried it on three different clean bolts including the headlight earth

That should have done it if the earth was to fault. Scratch earth.

No shit, mine will pull away in top gear, at around 35k with no worries, stock gears on 31s

I very seldom go over 2500 on the blacktop when up shifting, no need, she pulls well.

yeah. i got a webber on to. should be pissinalong. only got stockie tyres but. is going of to the doctor on thursday. hopfully it will come back with more power. if not ill probs do the exaust and shit

You have a bad prob there, weber, and having to go to 4k or over to upshift.

Webers are very easy to tune, bout the simplest to work on there is.

the mechanic is one of my mates dads. i dont have to up shift at 4 grand. but i do mostly highway driving so. unless ya like getting over taken by road trains when ur taking of at the lights kinda gota rev shit out of it. (zuke loves it but) probs why my fuel economy is so shit aswell. im realy hoping that the timing is out a fair bit. timing fixed, all round tune up and jets checked/ replaced and my lil rally car will be loving it.

A better 2in exhaust will really be able to make full use of the weber... some stock exhaust systems recirculate burnt exhaust gases back into the combustion chamber, giving it a unclean burn, once the exhaust gases can get out better, you get almost no recirculation, and a much cleaner burn in the combustion chamber, taking better advantage of the improved air/fuel mix from the weber, which means it breathes and farts alot better !

None of this is helping with your electrical problem. Put a multimeter on the back of the alternator and tell us how many volts are coming out, both at idle and at revs.

Hey mate.

I had some similar dramas to what your describing with your head unit. The thing would "reset" itself when i applied the brakes/headlights etc.

I've done a few installs so decided to tear it apart and see what was happening. From what i could tell whoever did the install got a switched 12V from wherever they could find it. It must have been getting interference and slightly dropping voltage enough to get the head unit to reset.

What i did with mine was trace out the constant and switched 12v for the head unit and relocate them with a clean source. i.e a direct battery feed to the fuse box and a main and clean switched 12v. This fixed my dramas and touch wood its fixed the problem.

May sound like a stuff around but once its done it should sort your dramas

i think there is a spare accsesry wire were i pulled the clock out. i got the uhf runing of of the hot wire from that. i belive that the wire i want is yellow right.
