In the first pic the metal dashpot with one vacuum line is what opens up the secondary throat in the carb (vacuum secondaries).
Again in the first pic, the round thing with the black rubber on it, I think is is the idle control
In the last pic, the round thing with the black wire going into it is the mixture control solenoid I think.
It has been along time since i have worked on these carby's, I have been EFI since 2-3 years ago.
Now you see why we ditch these carbys when they quit working right or start to act up. There is a few easy things to check, and if that doesn't work it is like

Yeah, i wish we had a good easy to maintain factory carb. it would save more EFI systems for me to convert with
Seriously though I really dig the U.S. spec 1.6 TBI setups. they are easy to hookup, run good, give good torque down low, and will work on a 1.3 or 1.6

There is no fucking point Did you read the rest of the thread or just gloss over everything that explained that all the parts actually HELP your engine. Mustn't have read it or you would also have seen that Shep said that he had removed it all and did not notice any performance gains.

didnt ur mommy teach u that "if u dont have anything nice to say, dont say anything at all.
shep said he didnt think there was a power gain.
suzi blue pointed out the advantage in removing from a 308
SuziBlu wrote: Ben_Sierra wrote: Why? With the 308 holden donk, emission control made for a loss of power to the tune of approx 30% or so. And a huge decrease in fuel milage.
in an experiment u ask a question then test that question througfh different methods
when u have two results (answeres) that contradict each other. they cancel each other out. u then repeat your experiment to obtain an average.
sorry shep i did miss ur post. what was it tha lead you to wanting to remove it. was it the same thing or just playing up.

This is not a 308 tho and is 99% likely not to be the exact same system.
Rice explained it well, you read his post?

those two results dont contradict each other.
one is a completely different motor. and thus power gains are irrelevant.
Do you not think in the nearly 30 years that sierras have been around, that some one would have tried all of this before.
Making you car illegal and pulling off some sensors is not going to make a sierra more powerful.

clearly not gona be the same as a 308. but normaly emmissions control is at the sacrafice of power.

removing the emmisions stuff on a 308 also involves changing heads, intake manifold and carby, bit different to unplugging a box
look heres your standard school kid warning, what you ask about, its been done before you arent pioneering anything.
The people you ask generally know what they are talking about, listen to them.
If a few people say its a waste of time and one says its good on something else, dont read that as its worth you looking into.
If you keep creating threads and posts that dont make any sense to a mature person not only will nobody help you, they will start to get pissed off by you and fill your threads up with go away you dont make sense, this creates tension, I dont need tension cause it makes my time here less enjoyable cause I have to deal with it.
Dealing with it invloves banning you, cause its easy
So before you go on any further read more, post less and hopefully your stay here will be a long one.

and your basing "normally" on what?
normally, if a motor is designed to run with emmissions control taking it off will actually hamper performance.
the 308 was a different story because the emmisions control was added to the motor after design.
Is it school holidays again already???

You can port the manifold to increase performance, or add a weber.
if you have vacuum secondaries over there, you can removed one of the vacuum restrictor and get full secondaries sooner.
There are a few tweaks, but nothing really you can do to the emissions stuff. Fore example the PCV valve, if you remove or plug that, you will over-pressurize your crankcase, and blow all the oil seals in your engine.
See for the samurai, (at least here) the emissions stuff doesn't really do anything bad at all, as a matter of fact, part of that is adding and removing fuel when it is needed, and that actually makes for a better burn, which enhances performance.
Back in the day we had smog pumps. These things were actually belt driven from the same belt as the water pump. They actually took exhaust and or oil vapors, and pumped it back into the intake. That was a nasty setup.
The pumps usually shit themselves, becoming hard to turn and sucked more horsepower. The fumes pumped in like to gum up the intake and carb, sucking even more horsepower.
So removing that stuff from an engine that had seen a few miles, freed up horsepower, lowered coolant temps, and made them idle better.
Nowadays, 9/10 times it just make's em run shit.
Now a header, a SU or CV carb, and or a cam (if you felt like a cam) would really help out, and are not really expensive. A CV carb setup can be done with spare metal and a welder if you have the carb

end me a PM, if you can cut down the wires yourself, it would be a bit cheaper. Since your dollar is high, it might be a worthwhile deal.
How hard are the 1.6 TBI's to find over there? See all the sidekicks/vits/geo trackers went TBI since late early 89. Samurai's went EFI in 90.
TBI is good for any 8 valve 1.3 or 1.6

I was in one of those really really fast cars once. Guy asked me to drive him home as I was sober, and he was pissed.
Well, it was an automatic, I hit the gas in the parking lot, and it was like it was on ice. Needless to say, we took a cab.
A young guy in a 9 second car = someones going to get hurt. it is just matter of time

It also shouldn't need an engineering certificate. They come stock with a turbo and probably the best brakes you could need.
Skyman, I sent you a pm.

How on earth did you find the emission control box.
There isn't one on my drover, I knew without looking as I have had to work tightly in there, never was one, bugger me dead, there is one hidden so tight in under everything on the Maruti, that if I wasn't searching for it, I would not have seen it, and was only a week or so ago I was cutting the firewall very close to it.
In this instance, with your weber, I do not think it is hooked up, going by what I read, it is for the aisin carby, you, like me have a weber, and there is nothing on a weber to hook up.
I near broke my back and neck trying to fit in there to see the silly thing, I will get keen, take the seat out and try and follow the wires, but, Im 99% sure its a dead item.

The emission box thingo doesn't connect to the carb what so ever. It connects to two lil vacuum solenoids mounted on the intake manifold to open/close the EGR valve and canister vent. Well at least thats what the early WT systems did.

wait a minute hold da' fuckin phone.
I just read back and you are running a weber. None of the damned emission shit is workin' anyways.
Maybe the EGR if it even has a vacuum source now.
The point is completely moot. If it's going to the car docs to have the carb worked on, they will get it running tops for you, and know what , if anything to do with the emissions that are no longer working.
Make sure if they tune the weber they have some kind of oxygen sensor, or exhaust sniffer. I would also ask them to jet it correctly for you.
If the weber came from the states it is jetted rich from the factory. Suzuki 1.3's like to run really goo on the dangerous side of lean, so listen for detonation (pinging like bad gas).

You could always do like I did, and go back to the very first page of "rigs of auzookers" and read them all from back to front.
I have to admit though, I skipped over most of the threads that didn't have pictures, unless they were really interesting
